I didn't do much more than poke at the Fraser calculator, but it's cool.

50% seems awfully high. I supose it depends partly on what you consider
"modest", and whether or not you've mouths to feed.
Modest varies a lot depending on what part of the industry you're in, but I
had to climb well above modest (IMHO) to reach 50% tax on that survey.
Beyond that, umm, Canada manages their money about as badly as most
governments, and national health care is expensive.
There are worse problems to have than paying taxes. (depending how
emphatically libertarian portions of the audience are, that may be a troll)
