Re: Good (!) editorial from Canada PLEASE READ (done)

(...) Surely you realize that San Francisco has had earthquakes before 1989? Also, technically the 1989 quake wasn't centered in San Francisco, but in Loma Prieta, certainly close enough to be felt. (URL) could have been referring to the 1906 quake, (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.loc.pt, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  About the pending (inevitable) debates

(...) To Tore and all of the others either already debating or chomping at the bit to do so, No one is stopping the debate, that much is obvious. Neither can we or should we. It's against the LUGNET ToU and human nature. Yesterday I asked that the (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Good (!) editorial from Canada PLEASE READ (done)

In lugnet.loc.pt, Lindsay Frederick Braun writes: (snipped) (...) Eh eh, I wrote just about the same concerning Airbus (I did not read your post until i posted mine...). There is a catch, though: The earthquake. It was 5 years after the writer's (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.loc.pt, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Well, first of all, he doesn't know about European aerospace company Airbus, which produces airliners (and is in fact comparable to Boeing in its output). He dwells on 1950s and 1960s events, and doesn't even mention later events, even when (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.loc.pt, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: War ... Please read the following...

Agreed. I personally deal with it by discussing it. Staying silent is the worst thing to do at this point, IMO. Just try not to drop to personal attacks, or pigeonholing entire races/nationalities/beliefs into a box and condemning all in that group. (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Plane crash in New York?

So explain - try to give me a good reason why we should simply ignore these terrorists and hope they go away. I seriously doubt you will come up with a good enough reason. They aren't going away, that's obvious, or this wouldn't have happened. (...) (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: War ... Please read the following...

Hey I got an idea... How about we allow people to have their debates, as long as they keep it in off-topic.debate. People who are offended by debates can refrain from reading this newsgroup. Some of us deal with things by debating and thinking about (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: War ... Please read the following...

In no way am I right or may have the right to write this, but when you watch people in pain and know there isn't much you can do, all you can say is... (the following is a request, nothing else, it's not to offend or blame anyone at all)... After (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Plane crash in New York?

It is utterly frustrating to read opinions that I strongly disagree with, and not to be allowed to explain and evolve my point of view. /Tore (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Terrorist Attacks on America

(...) Somebody already mentioned this (maybe one of the Gerber news posts), eBay has banned all WTC and Pentagon related auctions until at least October. -Rob. (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Terrorist Attacks on America

(...) I hope eBay does something about this upright standing person's feedback, but they probably won't. After all, they must pander to the sellers (even if they are doing the right thing by canceling the auctions). Let us pray that eBay will find (...)   Re: War

(...) I understand, Lindsay :) I speak from the heart and I am outraged by all of this! But, in my heart and mind, I cannot help but think the blame is two-fold and things don't just happen out of the blue, though I deplore such hatred and (...)   Re: Plane crash in New York?

There is no way to break the circle of violence short of annihilating the fanatics. Ignoring them and not fighting back does not seem to slow their attacks down at all. If NOT fighting them doesn't stop their attacks (as has been shown to date), (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Terrorist Attacks on America

(...) After reading his stuff I checked on the auctions of a few of these disgusting, opportunistic profiteers. Happily, a great many of them, found under a search of "World Trade Center", appear to have been canceled or withdrawn. Dave! (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Terrorist Attacks on America

How can any American, or even decent human being, cash in on the deaths of his fellow man?! I feel sick to my stomach. How can anyone conceive of selling fragments of the WTC as "memorabillia" when it's soaked with the blood of the murdered?!!!!! (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: War
