I had to chime in on this thread.  I'm right there with you Greg.

In lugnet.market.shopping, Greg Perry writes:
Questions for Fellow Buyers

Are there other buyers who have been purchasing what they thought would be
“ready to use” LEGO from BrickLink sellers only to find that the parts that
show up are filthy or discolored to the point of being useless?

A month or two ago I made my first "used" purchases on Bricklink.  The three
shops that I purchased from stated that these used parts were in "excellent
condition" and most were actually new because they didn't want to bother
sorting.

Well, I purchased about $90 of these aforementioned parts at or near new
part prices. What I received was nothing like I expected.

I realize condition is objective but chewed on parts do not qualify as
"excellent".  Some of the parts were downright nasty, I just chucked them
straight into the garbage.  The bulk of the pieces were in good shape but so
heavily used that they had completely lost the magical Lego sheen to them(if
you've sorted through used pieces you know what I mean).  Granted there were
some new parts in the mix but I had to pain stakingly sort them out under a
light.

What I don't understand is that if they have know they have new pieces why
mix it in with the crud.  This is simply illogical.  And why sell pieces
you'd be upset getting yourself?

Are there other buyers who, like me, have been wimping out on providing
the negative feedback that these sellers deserve?

I've never had a major problem, so the times I've been disatisfied I usually
don't leave feedback.  I guess this is a diservice to other bricklink users
because I am holding back.  Just don't buy used from people you don't know.
I've given up on it completely.

So there it is, my venting about dirty and damaged parts I’ve bought from
BrickLink.  I want to reiterate that I am not talking about all sellers on
BrickLink – only a small handful (4 or 5 at most) that I’ve had bad
experiences with in recent months.  The sellers I use regularly have NEVER
let me down (thanks Melanie, Troy & Brett!) and I WILL continue to use
BrickLink.  In fact, I’m planning to open my own shop this summer and hope
to eventually be viewed as good seller of bricks.

As a seller of parts I try to make sure my customers get what they expect
and and are satisfied with their purchases.  As a buyer, I expect to get
good product.  I've purchased from many of the great sellers that have
already been mentioned and have been happy with my experience every time.
Thanks to all the great sellers out there who continue offering great
service and great pieces.

In order to provide myself with a bit of a vent, I thought I’d post this message and see if others share my perspective/experiences or whether I’m just completely wrong in my attitude and thinking (wouldn’t be the first time). My “problem” is that (...) (23 years ago, 18-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.general) !
