  Re: Priority Mail boxes

Thanks to everyone who responded. I was trying to point out that there are more sizes available than the USPS website has available in small quantites. Oh well, good intentions and all that jazz. Ray (...) (22 years ago, 29-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Priority Mail boxes

Ray, Try this link: (URL) believe they have everything except the small cube available there. You order in case quantitis, usually 25 pieces, and they are delivered to your door by the post office. This is where I get all of my priority mail (...) (22 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Priority Mail boxes

(...) Thanks for the info. I order all of my USPS supplies, including tape, on line here: (URL) on the Shipping Supplies link on that page. I believe you need an account (no charge) to order. -Rob. (22 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Priority Mail boxes

As the USPS Priority Mail rates will be increasing at the end of June, thought I would share some information that I have gathered.. USPS has a wide variety of box sizes available for Priority Mail shippers. The downside is that most of them are (...) (22 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Cool shipping rate comparison site

(...) Ooh, thanks for sharing the link. I did indeed see FedEx when I tried it! :) Ben Roller (22 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Cool shipping rate comparison site

(...) Also of use... UPS now has Internet shipping which allows you to generate the labels and bill to a credit card. No more traveling to a UPS Customer Counter. I can drop the packages off at our shipping department at work for pick-up. Haven't (...) (22 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Cool shipping rate comparison site

I was going thru my bookmarks and saw I had this bookmarked (1): (URL) site will compare Airborn, USPS & UPS rates (I didn't see FedEx, though.) Domestic & International, insured or not. Just enter all the info, basically package weight, dimension (...) (22 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping) !

Re: New Rules for Air Parcel Post (US -> Europe)

(...) The local post office (using POS terminals) refused to accept the package without it. YMMV at other facilities with and without POS. The POS terminal asked the retail clerk to enter the phone number. Ray (22 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: New Rules for Air Parcel Post (US -> Europe)

(...) Interesting. Note how the sheet you received says you "should" include recipients phone number. Judging by that, it appears that it is not mandatory to include a phone number, rather it is just preferred that you do so. (22 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

New Rules for Air Parcel Post (US -> Europe)

The post office informed me of changes to shipping requirements for air parcel post, from US to Europe. This may affect other countries shipping to Europe as well. I found out about these the hard way "we need a phone number to ship this package" :/ (...) (22 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: A small mystery

(...) I have 2 packages gone MIA that were shipped to the UK via Parcel Post AirMail, one in Jan-2001, one in Feb-2002. Neither were insured and are therefore not traceable by the USPS. As a rule, I always check the 'Return to Sender' box. A few (...) (22 years ago, 16-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  A small mystery

Back in Oct 2001, I shipped a package to the UK. The addressee never received it. I had almost given the package up as lost, when I received a notice yesterday that I had a 'returned package' waiting at the post office with $35 due. The package (...)   Re: Registered Mail went missing!

(...) Yep, yep. I occasionally see trays of baby chicks or ducks behind the counter at the local PO (thats what I get for living in a rural area). (...) One local guy regularly ships boxes of worms via Priority Mail. (he bought several of the big (...) (22 years ago, 3-Apr-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Registered Mail went missing!

(...) I am not an expert on this and did NOT research the facts, but I am pretty sure that sending US currency in the mail to a foreign country is NOT legal. This does not mean to imply that there are any penalties--I do not know, but it does mean (...) (22 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Registered Mail went missing!

(...) USPS Form 542: "Inquiry About a Registered Article or an Insured Parcel or an Ordinary Article" must be filed to trace the package. I currently have an insured package MIA to the Netherlands. I filed the form over a month ago and am still (...) (22 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Registered Mail went missing!

(...) That is true, but there is more to it than just that. I just called the local postmaster to confirm my understanding about how 'registered' mail is handled. Registered mail has to be signed off at each step of the way. Each office that (...) (22 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Registered Mail went missing!

(...) What you are getting with Registered mail is that the item is shipped in a locked container. This means only postal employees ever have any chance of handling it. It doesn't really confer any additional services (there are other services for (...) (22 years ago, 1-Apr-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: US Postal rates to increase this July

In lugnet.market.shipping, Ben Roller writes: (snip) (...) Yep. Also keep in mind that the USPS has far more mailing points than either FedEx or UPS (counting counters here, not drop boxes).
