Re: BrickBank ! (was Re: BrickBay Enhancement )

(...) The chance of Brickbay moving to Lugnet is unlikely because Lugnet runs on a Unix server [1] while Brickbay runs on NT server. What I'd like to know is what it would take to get other Lego businesses (for example BAYLIT) to move to Brickbay. (...) (24 years ago, 3-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.services)

In lugnet.market.services, Steve Chapple writes: <brickBank!> I like the idea. Let's say 100 people submit 1 order from each of 100 shops = 10,000 orders (or 10,000 payments being sent back and forth). Each buyer sending 100 checks, each seller (...) (...) Indeed. That is *the* sticky point. I have dodged it by keeping things pretty informal, it's just a circle of friends, really. In lugnet.market.services, Steve Chapple writes: <brickBank!> I gotta run, I will respond in depth later, but yes, in principle this idea has a great deal of merit. It is encompassed by the Lugnet Manifesto so it's theoretically coming to here. But (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.services)

Re: BrickBank ! (was Re: BrickBay Enhancement )

Actually, since there are no liabilities assumed or assurances given by Dan, and no licenses from any government sought, there is no need for government involvement. Essentially, we become a private consortium --- much like some antique malls or (...) (24 years ago, 1-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.services)

Folks, I am no expert in financial matters, but in this whole discussion, it might lead into the government, etc. getting into it because you are handling money, exchanging, etc. Do you really want to go down this road.   Re: BrickBay Enhancement (was Re: PayPal only in USA?!?)

The problem is getting someone to buy from you in the first place, sometimes it will take a while before things start rolling. If your site sits there for months and nothing moves, you have to foot the bill for each month's worth of non-movement. (...) (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.market.services)

BrickBay Enhancement (was Re: PayPal only in USA?!?)

(...) Actually, I was thinking that you and Dan Jezek could combine services, or BrickBay could add "factoring" and act like a bank the way PayPal does.
