That's been my experience as well. I've only gotten two boxes, though.
Actually, the box I'm sitting on[1] right now does have some interesting
pieces, from a historical perspective. Not stuff I want myself, but I'm
glad to have seen them in RL. But I'm willing to bet this is an
uncommon benefit of the Jambalaya experience.

Probably a good idea.

This sounds suspiciously like .buy-sell-trade. Or do you mean that we
c/should do this, just to the extent of matching up box throwers to box
catchers?
From an efficiency stand-point, the best Jamabalaya transaction would be
one where the sender fills an empty box, and the receiver keeps
everything the sender sends.
But efficiency might not be everything. I'd be satisfied with any box
where I could look at the contents, and for each item, my reaction would
be (a) keep it (assuming I've got another part with
equal-jambalayaishness to replace it with), (b) realize I've got enough
of that type of item, (c) appreciate that some other people might be
highly interested in that item, even though I'm not.
One thing I tried with GB#5 is to contact Jim, the guy who gets the box
next, and ask him if there's anything he's particularly interested in
getting. I was hoping I could skew my contributions toward stuff he'd
want. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. :( I still think it's a
good idea.

Going back to .buy-sell-trade, eh?

1) Not literally sitting on, but I've had it in my possession for at
least two weeks. It needs to move on.
