Kevin,

Both of these features seem to have been working fine for me this weekend. I
have recieved numerous "wanted" emails, and used the order invoicing. What
has led you to believe it's not working?

Many (most?) BB users have not been receiving any BB-generated e-mails.  It
has been speculated that this is because BB's ISP Interland is blocked by
many more reputable ISP's due to a very lax policy on Interland's part of
responding to SPAM complaints aimed at their users.

I've gotten the impression that Dan is figuring out where to move BB, and
how to move it relatively painlessly.  While there are many-many ISP's out
there, relatively few of them provide the scripting that BB requires, and
those that do, are expensive.  Or so I've gathered.

Okay, since it appears that some users ARE receiving BB email, I did some
investigating.  After several phone calls with my own ISP they verified that
they are NOT blocking any mail from Interland.com.  My ISP (Dreamscape.com)
does utilize Brightmail.com anti-spam service, but that is not blocking BB mail
(it does do a nice job on actual spam--caught 26 messages for me since June 1).

Using a program called NeoTrace, I pinged Interland and found 17 nodes between
Brickbay.com and my own ISP.  Any one of those nodes could be ultimately
responsible for blocking my mail so it does not appear that there is much more
I can do about things. Another call to Interland is a possibility, however.  If
Interland has shut down its Spam portals (sic) and otherwise eliminated their
spammers, perhaps there is some mechanism in place to inform other ISP's.  They
won't do this, I would guess, without numerous complaints from customers and
users.

(...) That's not how email works... It goes almost always directly from the server used to send it to the server where the reciever has an account, unless a forwarding service is used. But I've never seen an email pass 17 mailservers. You might mean (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)
