  Nice ripoff on Ebay

I guess discussions of auctions can happen here, right? Well, check out this url: (URL) 1807 for $5.50 PLUS shipping! I e-mailed all of the bidders (and the seller) involved a very polite message and let them know that should they want any more (...) (26 years ago, 11-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

(...) Of the lugnet.* groups, this is the best place, yes. (...) IMHO, only bad if they didn't want unsolicited comments. As for the comments themselves, especially to the buyer, I think you did a Good Thing. --Todd (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

I think it's always a good idea to point out the ripoffs. Who gives a darn what the ripoff artist thinks? (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: Nice ripoff on Ebay

Good work. I have done this several times with only good results. Actually, I have heard thanks from more sellers than bidders. Conscientious sellers are concerned with their eBay rep. I would consider sharing this story with eBay, although it is (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

(...) Yeah, I hear you. He's written back a couple of times claiming that if he had wanted to rip people off he would have marked them up much higher than he had. I guess 3x the normal price + shipping isn't high enough. Not to mention the (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: Nice ripoff on Ebay

(...) You're only supposed to give feedback on people you have been in a transaction with. Additionally, there is a VERY limited amount of space to write the feedback in. Thus, all the short, meaningless comments SArah Heacock sarah@eskimo.com (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: Nice ripoff on Ebay

(...) Not a bad thing at all. It is this type of person that will make the Star Wars Lego a bit of a nightmare, buying them all up, offering to sell them to us for ridiculously hyper-inflated prices. This very auctioneer was probably one of those (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: Nice ripoff on Ebay

(...) I've bought 4-5 items on EBay -- a couple of copies of 'HeroQuest' by MB and some lego lots. And I've posted feedback a couple of times. What I have noticed is that there is no mechanism for feedback to reflect that there was a transaction, (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: Nice ripoff on Ebay

(...) You get 80 characters to leave feedback with, it is a short amount but I don't think it's meaningless. If you send your money out and it takes awhile to get, you get back items that don't live up to their description, or worst case you get (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

(...) Although I'm sorry to hear about the problem, I think it's good to hear real-life stories like this. This is one of the reasons LUGNET will never have short little handles like that on member accounts. --Todd (26 years ago, 13-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)
