I thought about doing this. But I learned very qickly that many smokers feel
they are getting a hard time, and get bitter when the see statmets like
that.

I think you should reconsider, and add that. I find smoke rather
annoying. It seems to stick to the plastic for a long time. I take smoke
into account when deciding about purchases, when I can. But I usually
forget to ask.

If smokers are bitter because of you making that statement, seems like
that's their issue, not yours.

Cheers Larry, I recently started participating in auctions and also recently
got my first winnings from a smoker.  I never thought this would be an issue
before but the parts stink and even appear slightly yellowed.  I agree with you
totally in that if someones actions/habits could effect the quality of the
product you are buying then you have every right to take that into account.

For example I happen to be a cat lover and as many of you know cat hair sticks
to everything.  Although I try and keep my cats away from my collection I think
it would only be polite to mention that fact and I would not take offense if
anyone did not participate because they were allergic to cat hair or just
didn't want to deal with it.

The same goes for smoke.  If it bothers you then you have every right to ask
and then avoid auctions held by smokers.  I could care less if a smoker became
offended because I am offended when I get product that smells.
