"not available in stores" implies that you cannot get the set yourself.
Also, did you see the editing on the image? I'm sure that there was a price
or a phone number there. Misleading again.
The difference between this and KB is that there is a BIG difference between
a 10% markup over retail and a 100% markup over retail.
The difference between this and say a lot that gets bid up to an extravagant
ammount is that this set had an opening bid that was extravagant.
Unfortunately, I really don't see a solution to the problem. It really is
the bidders fault if they are not educated enough on the product to know
what a fair price is. And evidently one person did think that this was a
fair price for this set, or else they wouldn't have bid on it.
I must admit though, that this one isn't as bad as some of the McDonalds
ones recently.....

| (...) Um, it's WORSE than the McD sets. It's not a limited time set, and the starting bid was 400% markup, and if the guy used the buy-5-save-$4.50 deal in the S@H catalogs, it was a 600% markup. Believe it or not, some of us PAID $11 for that McD (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Unfortuanately, eBay might not do anything unless TLG pursued the issue. Of (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.auction)
