Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Toki Barron
(...) Thanks for the tip, Chris, I'll try to get out to that Ames. Monroeville is pretty much on the other side of the city, but I go down to Oakland to lift weights anyhow. I keep meaning to check SW Randall, but never have gotten around to doing (...) (24 years ago, 31-May-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Christopher Tracey
(...) They didn't have anything good when I was there last time(a month ago). I hope to be able to check the downtown one next time i am in Pittsburgh(next weekend perhaps). I think that SW Randall might have gray road plates in stock. If anyone (...) (24 years ago, 1-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Christopher Tracey
(...) Hmm. I haven't been there in a while. That Ames was the store that got me back into LEGO back in '97 when i found a BOGO 50% off coupon in the paper. (...) I know, that's unfortunate about the city. I wanted to stay after graduating but there (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Toki Barron
(...) Yeah, pretty much. If you browse to www.postgazette.com, you can find plenty about the "Forbes & Fifth" project or whatever it is called. Mayor Murph is plannint to use eminent domain (sp?) to buy a bunch of the older, mom & pop stores and put (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Dave Schuler
(...) Does this really seem like a good project to anyone? Downtown already suffers from a paucity of parking, especially in the 5th/Forbes area! What will be served by bringing in new businesses that no one will be able to access? For that matter, (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Toki Barron
(...) I agree, Forbes & 5th isn't really a good idea. Speaking of which, I should mention that Hari Krishna in Market Square FINALLY got busted for selling paraphernalia. Well, duh. They are doing some waterfront development a little bit down the (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Dave Schuler
(...) That's true--it's just a shame you have to go through Homestead to get to it! Seriously, I think that area will get a nice little boost in the coming years. (...) I wish that a Target or Wal-Mart were more accessible, though. It's a shame that (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Toki Barron
(...) Those stores are very new to the area. Did you live here before you went to PSU? If not, I guess something you may not know is that Hills (now Ames) and K-Mart were the dominant discount stores. Actually, the Target & Wal-Mart in the Robinson (...)           Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Christopher Tracey
(...) It's unfortunate that they are going that direction. I thought it was great when they started to renovate some of the older buildings downtown into apartments/condos. The Mom and Pop stores would have served their needs excellently. Now they (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Toki Barron
(...) I'm not sure. I haven't heard much about it. I'm not sure Pittsburgh is big enough that those places would want a restaurant here, but I could be wrong. When were they considering coming here? I lived in Iowa from 9/97 'til 12/99 while I went (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Christopher Tracey
(...) I first heard of it just before I left, maybe summer '98. I think it's still going on, but I'm not sure of the details. I think it is supposed to be downtown somewhere near 5th. I have a friend that writes frequent letters to the editors about (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.us.pa.pit)

Re: Ames 75% Star Wars LEGO —Dave Schuler

I didn’t try speaking with the salesperson, who on previous visits has been rather unhelpful, but I suppose it’s possible that they might have something in the back room. On the (...)
