  Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

Hi all, For those Aussie's amongst us who have joined Lugnet formally (paid the membership fee) a couple of questions... How did you go about paying? Was it a hassle? Is there an easier, cheaper way? What amount did you end up sending (unless you (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

(...) I joined using LarryP's factoring services. Our illustrious persona non grata MarkH is the Australian factor. Best way I know for getting small amounts of money to the US for this sort of thing. Mind you I have never logged on using my (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

(...) I sent him a USD money order. You get these from your local post office. From memory they cost about $6. The exchange rate they use to convert the USD is a bit bizarre - sometimes I have done better than market, more often than not they sting (...)   Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

(...) Get a US$ money order(Western Union) from the local Post Office. I get charged $8 AUD plus like Richard said the exchange rate will probably favour them, but that's how they make money. $10 US is not much at all for using Lugnet, if you ask me (...) (...) go. (...) Good on you Santosh, All those non-financial posters and lurkers tee up some membership fees with Santosh. US$10 is not much is it, what could you get for that, a 7111.   Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

(...) Thanks for volunteering Santosh! I'll definitely be joining but I'll do my money order separately, it'll cost me ~$5 for a local MO or bank cheque for Santosh so I may as well go straight for the US one myself. I haven't decided how much I'll (...) (24 years ago, 28-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

(...) I'm not writing this to stop you going on your own, but the answers to the following may be helpful for the future. Is there a way you could transfer the money to me without making out a money order yourself (thats one of the benefits of (...) (24 years ago, 28-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

(...) You can supply them with an account name and number, but that brings in security aspects (eg. Nigerian money laundering schemes), so I guess you have to trust to whom you supply these things.   Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...

(...) Cash in the post is risky, an idea I was uncomfortable with even before a case just this last week where a worker in my local postoffice was charged and found guilty of stealing money and other things out of the mail. Are you comfortable (...) (24 years ago, 28-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

Re: Formal Lugnet memberships from Aus...
