Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Peter Edwards
(...) Hmmm, $50.00 (+travel +accomodation), you are not exactly rolling out the welcome mat. Are you wanting some exhibits or just vendors? (19 years ago, 7-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Timothy Gould
(...) You do realise that you actually have to pay for convention space don't you? Or did you think it was going to be held in someones backyard? Tim (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Peter Parsons
(...) Tim I thought those comments were a wee bit harsh mate as I too thought the $50 rego was a little extreme. We (BLTG) had a disscussion this weekend while we were at a train show at Sandgate and we came up with the figures of about $1000 plus (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

(...) Hi Peter, I agree my comment was rude and had it not been 2am for me when I wrote it I probably wouldn't have posted it but I will stand by the point because it was in response to something that was extremely rude. You have said much the same (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

(...) Mate my manager once said to me write it to yourself first and then tear it up and re write it again after you have cooled down very good advice I must say.        --SNIP-- (...) It is advice I usually take... except at 2am when I probably need it most. I do apologise to Peter Edwards. He may have been rude but that is not really justification for me to be rude back. (...) It's a pity you can't make it down (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

(...) Well, Well, it appears I need to put more words in my posts. Extremely rude? I see my sarcasim was wasted on you. I'm thinking your wound a bit tight mate. In hindsight my message “Are you wanting some exhibits or just vendors?” could have (...) (19 years ago, 9-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

(...) I picked up your sarcasm. I just considered it rude. (...) Agreed. (...) I agree. I shouldn't have posted what I did and I have said so already. (...)           Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Allister McLaren
(...) Actually, I believe it was the 'not exactly rolling out the welcome mat' comment that got the shackles up. But fear not, I hear Ross is putting together an official (URL) BrickVention Welcome Mat>, but unfortunately it'll mean the registration (...) (19 years ago, 10-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Aaron Amatnieks
(...) Unfortuantly the venue prices in both Melbourne and Sydney are pretty expensive, and due to the fact the venue needs to be close to transport and accomadation, this only increases the price. The Melbourne uni site is a good $1000 dollars (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Allister McLaren
(...) I've done a few sums, and I reckon I can do the weekend for about $500, so you may want to shop around. If Kerry's figures are correct, it may even be cheaper. Even at $500, $50 for registration is a relatively minor expense. Even without (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Sue Ann Barber
Hi everyone I can understand everyone's concern about the costs of attending Brickvention. $50 (plus travel costs etc) is a lot for an untried product. This is not a new issue - every type of convention has this issue every year :) In the Science (...) (19 years ago, 9-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Ross Crawford
(...) Thanks for your comments Peter. We have no physical welcome mat planned, but unfortunately exhibition space in Melbourne does not come cheap. We have attempted to keep the costs to a minimum, and $50 is quite cheap for a 2 day convention. (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: Announcing Brickvention 2006! —Richie Dulin
(...) I agree that $50 is quite cheap. In fact, compared to the total it will cost to attend (the +travel and +accomodation), $50 is very reasonable indeed. Venues are expensive, and if you don't live in Melbourne, travel and accomodation will be (...) (19 years ago, 8-Mar-06, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.events, FTX)
