They shouldn't think of it as "bothering" at all!  8^0  In previous
threads people have said that, even if TLC should go belly-up, they would
satisfy their Lego needs on the secondary market rather than buying clone
brands.  That's a heavy observation--if people would rather spend a lot more
on the 2ndary market than buy from the competition, how much more willing
would they be to buy primary market LEGO direct from the source?!

Hmm, I don't know. I think people want their cake and eat it, too.  Why else
would there be murmuring about the bulk prices?  Folks should be happy that
bulk services are even being made available!  But now that we get them, it's
now "prices are too high". How short our collective memories are!  Think back
to 2 odd years ago  when there was a wall of silence from TLC, and bulk
service was just a dream.

Definitely true.  For my purposes, and at my purchasing power/volume, the
current bulk system is almost ideal (though more variety will be nice when
it arrives!)  In addition, before the news broke about bulk sales, I recall
discussions about the per-piece cost vs. the already-available buckets, and
what LEGO might inadvertantly inflict on its own retail sales.  I'm sure
there are more factors involved than I'm considering.  The end-all answer is
to wait and see what the design-a-set yields...

I know that there may be logistical problems surrounding the production of
out-of-print sets, but there is an undeniable market for such sets, probably
every bit as strong as the Lego Sculpture market, and TLC has already taken
care of its overhead and design costs on vintage sets!

I don't know much about their marketing analysis, but your point is well
taken.  It would be a nice thing for folks who weren't around for the initial
offerings and can't afford the secondary market prices.

Myself included.  Even if such vintage sets were only available via S@H
and sold in plain packaging like the sculptures, I'm confident that they'd
do well.

  Dave!
