I'm famous (or infamous) —Joseph Gonzalez
I had a coworker tell me that she heard something on her radio this morning about Lego. They were saying that the majority of buyers are adult males making purchases for themselves (I'm quite curious where the info came from). They made mention of (...)      (...) Joe, I didn't walk! I swear! :-, (...) I think that there's a large culture gap between the "Real World" and radio DJ's. (Tom? Are you there? :-) (...)         Re: I'm famous (or infamous) —Joseph Gonzalez
(...) Just a footnote to this little incident. The information came from an interview I did with a reporter in Denmark for the Bloomberg Newsgroup (like Associated Press but on a smaller, growing scale) about two months ago. It was originally for an (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people)

Lego Article (Re: I'm famous (or infamous)) —Joseph Gonzalez
(...) Thanks, Gary. Here is a copy of the article (portions of it appeared in my statewide newspaper's business section today).      James Brown: [...] (...) ^^^^ (...) It is only "some" of the 4e9 DKK that are bought by adult men for themselves. The question that is interesting from our point of view is how much LEGO is bought _for_ adults, not by adults. Apparently nobody knows (...)          Re: Lego Article (Re: I'm famous (or infamous)) —Ray Sanders
And if they (TLG) knew that, what could they do ? Lego ads in Sports Illustrated or The Economist ? ;) I'll make a SWAG (scientific wild-assed guess) of 5-10% of sales. Anyone have any better intel ? Ray (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people)

Re: Lego Article (Re: I'm famous (or infamous)) —Steve Bliss
(...) Nope, no better intel, but my feeling is this: women do most of the gift-buying, especially for kids. When men buy gifts, it's for a woman. So, when males are buying LEGO, it is likely they are buying for themselves. I'd put it as high as (...) (25 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people)

Re: Lego Article (Re: I'm famous (or infamous)) —Gary R. Istok
Hey Joseph, On the radio interview, you may wish to mention the fact that TLG has sort of ignores the adult LEGO population. Bulk sales are an example of this. No need to badmouth the company, just tone it into a polite way of saying that they could (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people)

Re: Lego Article (Re: I'm famous (or infamous)) —Joseph Gonzalez
(...) Good tip, Gary. I'll see if I can tie the adult market in with a nod to Lugnet and its participants.
