    Brickshelf empty? —Tobbe Arnesson
Hi all! Have not been around for ages but what up with Brickshelf? System Stats: 0 Files 286,804 Folders :( Temporary glitch or did I miss something? Tried searching but could not find anything relevant. (15 years ago, 13-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hello, I don't know how helpful this is, but last night (around 3AM GMT on July 13), Brickshelf had the opposite problem; it had a bunch of files but no folders. Daniel Patten (15 years ago, 13-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) There's definitely something buggy going on. I can see top-level folders but their contents come up as "Empty". It sounds like BS has some fixing of problems to do... -Jordan (15 years ago, 13-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) I saw that Brickshelf was having problems yesterday too. I just checked it, and it all seems back to normal now. I'd say, temporary glitch. Have Fun! C-Ya! Rich (15 years ago, 13-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Brickshelf empty? —Jetro de Chateau
(...) After BS almost shut down some time ago it has never come back to 100% normal. Searches only turn up a small part of what's actually there and these glitches keep occurring every now and again. Apart from the fact that it is 100% LEGO it has (...)         Re: Brickshelf empty? —Tobbe Arnesson
(...) Sad to hear that. Hope it stays alive, at least in the past it was a great source with lot's more posting MOCs there than here. Lugnet itself also seem to have lost a lot of momentum over the last couple of years. Glad to still see some (...) (15 years ago, 14-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Brickshelf empty? —Jordan Schwarz
(...) LUGNET and Brickshelf have both lost a lot of momentum. I think it's partly due to the fact that these websites, once on the cusp of the AFOL online presence, have not invested the resources and energy to stay with the times. The sites that (...)    (...) I feel the same Jordan. I still follow LUGNET, especially the train and town threads. Any efforts to create more activity on this site would be greatly appreciated. Bert Waters (15 years ago, 15-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Brickshelf empty? —Tobbe Arnesson
Seems I was not the only one to leave this place. :( Can't see how flickr and possibility to edit posts and masking mail-addresses can be the reason for this. Does not matter if the system is slightly flawed if the crowd and quality of builds and (...) (15 years ago, 16-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Brickshelf empty? —Jordan Schwarz
(...) At Brickworld 2009, the fragmentation of the AFOL online community was the subject of several discussions. This fact seems to be well-known to AFOLs at this point. Even the LEGO Community Team knew about this. As you pointed out, one question (...) (15 years ago, 16-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Brickshelf empty? —Anthony Sava
(...) I think part of the reason why things have fragmented such as they have, but not as a conscious decision by any one group or individual, is the lack of redundancy that is Lugnet. There was a period of time many years ago when Lugnet's server (...) (15 years ago, 16-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Brickshelf empty? —Jetro de Chateau
(...) I don't believe LUGNET needs to return to what it was to once again be the centre of the LEGO universe. I signed up only relatively recently after reading LUGNET for some years and participating in the robotics section through an external (...) (15 years ago, 17-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

          Re: Brickshelf empty? —Matija Puzar
(...) I'm old fashioned and prefer reading LUGNET through NNTP. It has both positive and negative sides, but one of the major positive sides is that you actually can easily keep track of cross-postings and posts that you have already read. And I (...)           Re: Brickshelf empty? —Anders Isaksson
(...) If you read lugnet with a newsreader (Outlook Express, XanaNews for example), instead of using the web interface, there's no problem keeping track of what you have read. XanaNews can probably be configured as a 'portable application' so you (...) (15 years ago, 18-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

Re: Brickshelf empty? —Jetro de Chateau
(...) Just the thing I was looking for. I started looking into this when Matija Puzar mentioned the NNTP protocol (which I vaguely remember using several aeons ago) and this got me on the right track. However, I have found that - as opposed to what (...) (15 years ago, 18-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

         Re: Brickshelf empty? —Tobbe Arnesson
I think both policing and specializing is a bad thing. Policing, hiding stuff never solves the problems. Better bash it out in the open and deal with it. Sure, pure trolls need to go and there are limits. I moderate in Swedens largest bicycle forum (...) (15 years ago, 17-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Brickshelf empty? —Jonathan Wilson
(...) Lately I have been posting a lot more on Eurobricks and a lot less on Lugnet mostly because Eurobricks is a LOT easier to post on than Lugnet (like all the times the authentication email takes forever to arrive or worse still, never gets (...)
