It's also an important way to harvest links for the hierarchical links
collections. That is, each time a new URL is encountered, it'll probably
go onto a list of "unknown/unrecognized" URLs waiting to be described and/or
categorized. For example, someone's web site on hyperdrive motivators
might go into the Star Wars and Building categories.
And besides, if off-site links weren't allowed, the system would be much
less useful.
