Re: AucZILLA X: what is this item? —Tom Stangl
Yeah, well, they ARE braindead idiots. The ONLY logical reason I can think of for cancelling the SW bucket is they realized they didn't have enough production capacity for it AND the SW sets. Gee, maybe they shouldn't have closed Brazil last year? (...) (26 years ago, 6-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: AucZILLA X: what is this item? —Jonathan Wilson
the problem with TLG is that they are trying to lower the mena target age for its line. look at primo for babies. look at all the new duplo sets. look at the town jr crap. look at the emphisis on playsets e.g. adventurers... TLG: introduce more (...) (26 years ago, 6-May-99, to lugnet.general)

In lugnet.general, Jonathan Wilson writes: <SNIP> (...) <SNIP> How is it that I, an AFOL, can spend $500 on Lego's in a single week and TLG doesn't feel that we are a viable target market? The reason SW sets have done so well is due to the theme and (...) (26 years ago, 6-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: AucZILLA X: what is this item? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) !! I think that's a BIT of an exaggeration. I know I would. Especially since the shortages seem to be a thing of the past (knock on wood). So I'll put it to the group. If there is anyone that wants a Gungan Sub, I've got an extra one, and (...) (26 years ago, 6-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: AucZILLA X: what is this item? —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) Well, I have to say, that this is what my 4.5 year old DOES want. I have witnessed him slowly drifting away from this and more toward building, but it's more on the order of swapping out details etc. of one truck, ship, etc. with new ones. We (...)          Re: AucZILLA X: what is this item? —Gregor Benedikt Rochow
(...) I don't see how this is age-related, though. As a child, I never had all that many new sets with instructions, but rather just a lot of parts, from which I built mostly cars. Then and now, the main attraction for me is the ability to make (...) (26 years ago, 6-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: AucZILLA X: what is this item? —Bram Lambrecht
(...) In my experience, kids buy the nicest looking model they can afford and do not usually consider the number or selection of pieces included. This is not an argument for Town Jr, though, because Town Jr. models are uglier than everything else (...) (26 years ago, 6-May-99, to lugnet.general)

large sets / small sets —Todd Lehman
(...) Jonathan's assumption may be false, but the data you give below doesn't support the opposite. (...) Large sets are much more worthwhile for a store to ship back to the manufacturer, where they would get blown out of S@H over a number of years (...) (26 years ago, 7-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: large sets / small sets —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) I can hear it now..."Dude, did you see that in AucZilla VL, Old Man Lehman uncovered a bunch of city-center sets and he has those cool old 2x10x2 double sloped arch thingies with the 2x6 on top?
