This is *exactly* the type of box we're discussing. When I purchased my
Vampire's Crypt, I was sure it was unopened as it didn't look tampered with
(no crushed or torn edges), and the 2 perforated semicirlces were intact.
Then Troy pointed out that you buy sets in these new sturdier,
non-resealable boxes, take them home, open these boxes without tearing the
perforations, taking out parts you want, then re-glue them and make them
appear sealed. Bring them back to the store and refund the apparently sealed
set. Voila (*not* 'walah', people!), basically undetectable, cowardly theft.
In other words, basically saying the so-called QA problems I've encountered
might actually be acts of covert theft.
And that disturbs me even more than the thought of quality assurance
problems at LEGO.
The end result is the same. I can no longer be assured that the seemingly
sealed set I just purchased is actually intact. And no, I couldn't tell if
the set was light compared to other copies of the same set since my g/f
bought if for me (a tolerant, non-afol).
