pieces. The box itself was *sealed*... it's one of the newer boxes where • you
have to rip along perforations and basically damage the box in order to • open
it, so it's not as if it could be re-sealed. It had never been opened; • from
the looks of it the bags inside burst before they were put in so all the
pieces leaked out.

I just wanted to point out that these boxes *CAN* be opened without using
the perforations.  In parting out sets, i've opened a lot of boxes, and
quite a few of them can be opened without doing any a noticeable damage to
the box.

A person lacking in morals could theoretically open said box in this manner,
take out what they wanted, and then glue the box closed again.  The store
would never notice when they took it back as a return as it would appear to
be a completely sealed new set.

As for the problems with your second set, that is clearly a quality control
issue on LEGOs part.

My feeling is that persons of low morals would simply rip open the box, shove the contents into their pockets/undergarments, and then discard the box somewhere in the store (out of sight) (...) (...) As I said in the case of my soccer bus, the box was noticeably light. I doubt the store would have taken it back without quesion. And since the box was light, I looked at it VERY carefully for signs of tampering. There was none (and I design & (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.general)

The Good: I was with some friends at Toys R Us, and they had one of the Hasbro Ep II Zam Wessel speeders on sale (it was complete and intact, but no packaging). It was only $4 (down from $18)... can't go wrong with that sort of discount, right? I'd (...) (22 years ago, 27-Aug-02, to lugnet.general)
