Parts II & III here...

resemble a purity test (at least, that's one of the things that inspired
the survey).  But it would sure be cool to see real purity test with
numbers you could add up and get a score.  :)

Back in 1996, Kevin John Stefan posted a LEGO Purity Test to RTL.  Herewith,
I reproduce it as posted:

---------- Begin included posting from Kevin ----------

Recently, I've been doing some major-league surfing on the Web
(when Netscape isn't crashing), and I came upon the Fibblesnork
site, which, as I'm sure you all know, is sheer coolness.
Anyways, I tried the survey, which didn't work.  However, while
reading the questions (especially part 3, I believe), the test
struck me with it's similarity to those purity tests that have
been floating around since the beginnings of time.
Of course, the Lego fan in me saw Lego in this, too, so here
goes...

(BTW, I scored 42% pure on this...)

Oh, portions (mostly part of the introduction) were scarfed
mercilessly from "other" purity tests.

[Maybe this is a potential Geek code entry?]

-------------------------------Begin Test-----------------------------
The debate of "specialised pieces" vs. "basic bricks" has raged on RTL
like nothing since Martin Luther invented a novel way of flyer delivery.
But, where exactly do you fit in this equation? Thus follows:

The Lego Purity Test.  v 1.0
This is a mid-length test consisting of 112 questions. It starts
out tame and gets progressively worse (or better, depending on your
viewpoint).  There are many ways of going about taking this test. You can,
of course, as your right, guaranteed by the Constitution, be anti-social
and sequester yourself in your room and take this test all by yourself;
however, we feel that the funnest way to utilize is to hold a Purity test
Party. All you need is one copy of the test, and a bunch of friends.  (Lots
of writing implements and paper would be useful too.)  The person with the
copy of the test is the test administrator; he/she reads the questions out
loud and everybody else writes down their answers.  We have no definite
rules as to whether the participants are required to divulge their answers;
that is up to the group to decide. However, each person's purity score
should be made common knowledge.

Unless otherwise specified, "elements" refer to anything produced by
Lego (R).  "Bricks" refer to the special subset of elements which are thick
rectangular prisms, w/ studs on top, and holes on the bottom. (i.e. the most
basic ones).  You may not score points for the use of any "clones" (sets of
elements which include bricks but which are _not_ made by Lego, e.g. Ritvik,
Tyco.  Clones that do not interact directly with Lego (e.g. Better Blocks,
Tente) do _not_ count as "clones").
For the term "Have you ever used x..." , use for building in a Lego
construction is implied.

Part I - Element ownership and use.
1) Do you own any slope, tile or plate elements?
2) Do you actually build with them?
3) Have you ever used these where bricks could be used?
4) Have you ever used a baseplate of any type?
5) Have you ever used a baseplate with a partially clear section? (e.g. road)
6) Have you ever used a raised baseplate? (e.g. crater, CRAPP, etc.)
7) Have you ever adapted / designed a structure _specifically_ for a raised
        baseplate?
8) Have you ever used an AWFUL plate for Lego play? (the plate that comes w/
the 6145/1728 Crater Crawler/Turbo Amphi - called "crystal playscape")
9) Have you ever used a brick from any "non-basic" colour (not red, yellow,
blue, black or white - e.g. brown, pink, transparent...)
10) Have you ever used an element in a "non-basic" colour?
11) Have you ever designed something so it would include a "non-basic" colour?
12) Do you own at _least_ 10 types of elements, other than bricks?
13) Do you own at _least_ 100 types of elements, other than bricks? (Keep in
mind there are about 10,000 elements...)
14) Do you own more than 1000 types of elements, other than bricks?
15) Have you ever bought a set with non-brick elements (NBEs) in it?
16) Have you ever bought a set because of the NBEs in it?

18) Have you ever sold or traded bricks to get NBEs?

        Lego elements?

        Part III - Big Elements

33) Have you ever used one, even when you had plenty of more basic elements?
34) Have you ever used an arch, window or other curved/angled element for
        aesthetic purposes?
35) Have you ever used an angled wall piece? (the corner one)
36) Have you ever used any other piece that could be made from other, more
        basic elements?
37) Have you ever used a hinge, movable arm, turntable or other similar
        element?
38) Have you ever used Technic pieces in a non-Technic construction?

(note: this is a hypothetical situation.  If you actually have a
selection of dark grey bricks and wish to trade them away, e-mail me.)
48) Have you ever purchased a set to obtain a dramatic one-piece architectural
element? (eg: the 1/4 dome, the jail cell door, a pirate hull, a
        staircase)
49) Have you ever used the "junk" that comes attatched to certain elements in
any way? (e.g. the thing attatched to the 4 gold coins, the hub for
flowers, the wheel from Castle feathers, the silver bits from Aquazone
        knives and harpoons...)
50) Have you ever purchased a set for the "junk"?

Part IV - Set Use and Abuse
51) Have you ever used anything non-lego with Lego?
51) Have you ever used food with Lego?
52) Have you ever used hobby materials with Lego?
53) Have you ever used "misc. household supplies" with Lego? (e.g. string,
thread, paper, Saran wrap, foil...  -  Lego string doesn't count)
54) Have you ever used your teeth to pry elements apart?

Total your "no" responses, divide by 112, then multiply by 100. This is your

boy/girl. And should get no more Lego. Ever.
