My take is that I have always tried to abide by this non pluralism. Many
years ago when I read the statement, I said to myself that this is kinda
silly, but ok! Then I realized over time that if you are in tune with this,
you would be more apt to comply, but if you are not into creating with Lego
it either dosn't matter or you simply don't know....

For example while doing Art shows over the years, people would come to me
and say "oh these Legos are great" or "Timmy did you see the Legos?" and in
turn if I said: "Excuse me madame, but it's Lego or Lego Bricks and not
"Legos" please help keep the quality of the name by...." they would say: "ya
whatever" Problem is the word seems to be a valid pluralism, you throw an
"S" after the word and there you go. It really takes a consious effort not
to slip! It's too rampent, I don't think we all are gonna comply, but I try.

Also when I had a 6 foot Praying Mantis body on my lap while working, and
when I would drop some pieces on the floor, then in a failed stretch attempt
to reach them, I'm gonna ask someone: " Hey gimme those Legos! I can't reach
them!

Or way back when I was up building late (2:00am) while doing the "Rake" to
find pieces, my Dad would yell: Eric!!! It's 2am, PUT AWAY THE F**king LEGOS!

Dad, I would but the term "Legos" isn't really the proper use of the
trademark, please try to help ensure the quality of the product by always
referring to them as Lego Bricks or pieces and not Legos....

SMACK - CRASH - BOOM!!!! GET TO BED!!! I don't want to hear it! It's 2am!!!

Y-yes!!! Whaaaa - Whaaaa - sniff - sniff

Bed time Prayer: Dear Susan Williams, and god, please forgive my dad for
calling them "Legos" he dos'nt know what he is doing. Thank-you. Also could
you help me find some 1x2's tomarrow? Dad woke up during "Raking" thank-you
and ahmen.

P.S. I grew up as a Budist so I never really said bedtime prayers, it just
seemed humorous and I did it for the sake of the Thread.

Kyle, you're not alone.

What I find interesting (and very telling in a certain way) is that NO ONE
that I've ever met, child or parent has referred to them as "Lego bricks."
They (and I for the purposes of not wanting to come off as some kind of
weird snob) have always call them "Legos."  Only until I joined this group
did I hear the argument that "You should always refer to them as Lego
bricks."

IMHO, this discussion has always resembled the silly bickering among Star
Trek fans about being called "Trekkers" as opposed to "Trekkies."  People,
it's a hobby.  Let's try not to take it too seriously.  It takes the fun out
of it, and that's what we're here for, right?

[FUT it where ya want it]

Barely 2 weeks ago I posted this simple message because I thought
it was funny:

http://news.lugnet.com/general/?n=29050

There are now about 255 messages that all trace back to my post
(if you track through the busted threads).  Most of it ended up
in .off-topic.debate, thankfully.  Heavy stuff!  Man, now I
know why I stay out of there.

Does anyone on LUGNET talk about LEGO anymore??  :]

I'm not sure if I'm proud that "I started this" or not.  But
since typing this is keeping me away from a report I have to
write, I guess I'm okay with it  ;]

I think in my next post I'll mention about how vintage LEGO
sounds "creakier" than new LEGO, thus spawning an 867
message-long thread which utimately results in the United
Nations being disbanded  :]

Now people probably want to come over and bust all my LEGO  :]
