That might be a bit too pejorative...or maybe a bit unclear that it'd be
about wannabe LEGO®-clones as opposed to wannabe other-things (like Madonna
Wannabes and Elvis Wannabes :).
BTW, one other possibility that I forgot to list earlier is:
lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands
because just plain .clones may sound a bit too much like genetic cloning.
(And it's possible that there may someday be other serious techy-type things
in the .off-topic hierarchy.)
A good would-have-been possibility (if it weren't for the 14-character ng-
name-component rule) might have been lugnet.off-topic.imitation-brands.
But I'd still be pretty comfortable with lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands.
It would be the most appropriate place (not necessarily always the only
place) to bring up imitation brands such as Tyco, Tente, Best-Lock, etc.
People should still be highly discouraged from posting anything about
imitation brands in hard-core LEGO® ng's like lugnet.reviews, lugnet.trains,
lugnet.cad, and lugnet.announce, but an occasional mention (for comparative
purposes like why LEGO® bricks are better) in lugnet.general or lugnet.build
wouldn't be too bad.
