Ditto. Except I use 1280x960, because pixels should be *square*. :)
One problem with many web site designs is that they make text go from one
side of the browser to the other. This is fine for one line, but it makes
for painful reading if it's more than that -- especially if it's a whole
article. Newspapers have columns for a reason.
I find a width of about 700 to be generally comfortable, so that's what I
usually stay with.
