TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —David Eaton
Check this out-- looks like TAN castle wall sections! (URL) say they were a yellowed white, but white castle walls didn't come with those brick patterns! Could it be some bizarre lighting that's making them tan? But there's another set for auction (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —James Brown
(...) Nope. Definately grey. They're either severly yellowed, or the scan color is off, but they're grey. How's the RGB on your monitor? ;) (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) that (...) The section in the middle of the second column from the left seems to be white on its underside, or at least a lighter color than the rest. Perhaps it's a matter of bad UV contamination; were these printed wall sections available in (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —Tamyra Teed
I believe they were printed in white, though the stone patterns were in red not grey. I have to admit they look tanish white to me on my screen also. I'm guessing they have to be grey and it's just a bad bad picture. I'd mail the seller if you (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —David Eaton
(...) Well... I wasn't going to place a bid, unless I KNOW they ARE tan (And I'm 99.98612% sure they're not)... but I am REALLY curious-- mostly because it doesn't look like they're grey in any way, shape, or form! Usually a bad picture just looks (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —Eric Kingsley
(...) I don't really see the issue here. In my mind they are gray. The only strange thing I see is that the person used a flash to take the picture and the effect made the pieces in the front look tanish. That in my mind is only because they were in (...)       (...) strange (...) they (...) I guess I can understand that, but the color, though "wrong," seems remarkably consistent nonetheless. Would a single, relatively small flashbulb cause such an even distortion of color? I'm asking at face value; I (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —Eric Kingsley
(...) Just look at the light on the sheet/cloth the person used the light distribution matches that of the distribution on the LEGO. Another point when I have tried using a flash I took a picture of a Gray wall and the entire wall took on a color (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —David Eaton
(...) Same here-- I think that's really the only logical possibility. I don't think white walls were EVER offered with those patters, black is out of the question (I'd say), dark grey wall sections never had ANY patters that I'm aware of, and red (...)         Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —Bryan Wong
(...) I think it's just a rare picture where the lighting makes the grey walls appear tan. I'm too familiar with grey castle walls, I refuse to believe in tan walls until I have on in my hand. :) Bryan (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) They're definitely grey--look at the upper picture first, and it's the same walls (mix and number)--while lighting effects can often add a warm tan, they rarely "create" grey from anything but white. Just my fiftieth of a buck. LFB (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: TAN castle walls? It CAN'T be! But what IS it? —Jeff Johnston
(...) My guess: It's bad/funky lighting on the lower picture. Notice that the number and type of walls in both pics are exactly the same - my guess is, it's two pics of the same lot. I notice they don't bother to have a text listing of what walls (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)
