Re: A far more insidious change to the brick!

(...) I suspect that the fact that the hinges hold their shape (i.e. can hold the wings of a ship or whatever in some kind of "open" position working against gravity) is another factor here. Much more playability I suspect. (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space)

(...) I would contend that all LEGO creations are "toyish". After all, LEGO is a toy. - Orion (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space)

  Question about AC Nielsen surveys

Hello, I was able to purchase the four new MINI Star Wars sets at my local Toys R Us today. In the back of two of the instruction booklets there is a website address for a LEGO satisfaction survey. The first step of the survey is to enter the four- (...) (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Shades of Gray

(...) Hence the furor, the artists at Lego are now content while many artists in the AFOL community have had their vision shattered. Mark (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: A far more insidious change to the brick!

(...) I agree. one of the cool uses for the 'old' hinges is that by attaching a 1x2 two 'fingered' & a 1x2 three 'fingered hinge witheach piece's studs in opposite direction (one 'up', one 'down') you could easily make a plat thick assemly with (...)   Re: New colors and other info (ATTN JAKE)

Look at it like this. Coke knew that 1 in 12 of its customers in focus groups was rabidly, militantly opposed to messing with the flavor. Coke also knew full well that that 1 in 12 had a way of swaying the other 11 in the room, who liked New Coke (...) (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Shades of Gray

(...) It doesn't matter which 'color' of 'grey' you're talking about, you're still going to find someone who doesn't like the new 'gray' 'colour'. ;) But seriously....   Re: Shades of Gray

(...) Are you saying I got the color wrong? :-) (...) I'm somewhat amused at the apocolyptic visions some have placed on the color changes. I rather imagine it is reasonably close to what you outline above. Sometimes you have to do things for your (...) (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Petition against permanent color changes

(...) I agree with this. Not so much for the investment factor, but because I think if the old colours were good until now then they are good, period. There's a use for all of the shades... Pedro Silva (aged 21) (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general)

Re: A far more insidious change to the brick!

Actually, in 2003 the old school hinge appeared in the T-16, the Jedi Starfighter and in the UCS snowspeeder (holding the canopy)... so they're not completely gone, just a little more rare. It'll be ok folks. I promise. (URL) Admiral Giddens <>< (...) (22 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) It's 'grey'; learn to spell, colonial scum! :P (...) Very well said. I'm not too fussed by the change, but it would be good to have a comprehensive answer to the reasoning behind it.   A far more insidious change to the brick!

Hey all, WOW! I check in after a few weeks and the whole world ended! I'm adopting a wait-and-see approach to the color change, although having so many different grays will be annoying and time-consuming purely from a sorting standpoint. The change (...)
