 Dear LEGO / 4579
    New Technic crane —Steven Lane
Dear Lego I think you've made a big mistake on the new crane truck using a bionicle hook rather than the metal Technic hook that already exists. (URL) spoil the look of a set for the sake of one part? Seem's to me like just another example of Lego's (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New Technic crane —Gregory Muri
Steven makes an excellent point here. The Bionicle hook could not be more out of place. It looks ridiculous on an otherwise nice looking design/model. As for the color issue, I will beat that dead horse a bit more. There is a significant quantity of (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New Technic crane —Tobbe Arnesson
Looks to me that it's a good thing it's a common color so I can get a somewhat decent heap of it. Not that I don't prefer classic gray but if I'll need to restock a new/changed color I prefer if it's common. (20 years ago, 6-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New Technic crane —Steve Moldovanu
(...) Lego doesn't deserve to get respect from any people. People have said polite things over the course of the years and Lego is just not listening. Drastic measures should be taken!!! I agree with the other people...why did Lego ruin a perfectly (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) And if you have a grievance against someone, I will reiterate--a politely and non-accusatory response is a better way of working towards an amicable solution for all parties involved, than a rant. Ranting does have its place in the world, but (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New Technic crane —Gregory Muri
What a suprise Orion. Steven is right in line here. Lego in no way will respond to politeness. The only thing they will respond to is a reduction in sales, PERIOD. The more people that refuse to buy the 2004 sets the better! Greg "Orion Pobursky" (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New Technic crane —Orion Pobursky
(...) I look at it this way: It's still LEGO, right? Sure, the model in the box may have an element the you don't like but nothing forces you to build the model the way it is pictured. Some of the colors may be different but all the bricks that you (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego)

           Better Pictures... —Steve Moldovanu
There are some better pictures of the 4 new Technic sets: (URL) that I have seen them closer...nothing special in that mini-technic set...the airplane is nice and actually the Bionicle blades look good...the 4WD is nice but there isn't anything that (...)             Re: Better Pictures... —David Simmons
I agree with Greg that not one of these sets looks good to me either. I miss brick beams. I also think the fairing pieces in place of brick beams actually detract from the model. It doesn't look as "solid" as the old stuff. The two metal hooks in (...) (20 years ago, 6-Feb-04, to lugnet.general)

D'OH. I should have recognized these, I've got about a dozen of them with my click-hinge parts in which they're often socketed.            Re: Better Pictures... —Gregory Muri
Thank you Lego! The more I see of these sets the easier it will be not to buy any of them. Bionicle parts have no business in true Technic sets. They are different themes and should be kept that way! Cutting corners by using those parts in sets like (...) (20 years ago, 6-Feb-04, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)
