Looking in the toy section today, I wandered from the Lego aisle (not
isle, as some would have us spell...) and into the Puzz-3D section. I
have tried one of these and although it was fun I'm not wild about the
structural stability. But what a wonderful Lego theme the buildings that
Puzz-3D put sout would make! Notre Dame Cathedral! Tower Bridge!
Neuschwanstein! The Duomo of Florence! And how about the Leaning Tower
of Pisa, the Parthenon (hey, while we're dreaming, let's have the whole
darn Acropolis with the Erectheum and all!), Chateaux of the Loire
Valley. On a smaller scale, historical architecture would make a great
theme... not castles, but domestic architecture of the middle ages,
Renaissance, Elizabethan England, Colonial America, all those wonderful
buildings in the Germanic countries (like the Faller and Vollmer model
RR building kits).

Just think of the parts you could get out of kits like that.

Sigh

Not to post a big ol' me-too, but I swear I almost posted this exact message on
Friday.  Well, minus the Puzz-3D angle.  A few recent trips- which have
included Notre Dame and the Duomo in Florence (Santa Maria della Fiore), really
got me thinking what a great line it would be.  Extrapolating, I began thinking
a great "Town Sr." line would be architectural examples of "generic" or
"typical" architecture from various international cities.  Imagine being able
to buy a line of minifig-scaled architecture from Paris, or Venice, or
London...  not necessarily "real" buildings, just buildings designed to look
like typical examples.  It could be breathtaking- and it needn't even have any
really special parts.  Well, that is to say, parts that aren't already in
production.

There could even be decent crossover, as buildings for, say, tudor English
countryside towns would also be great little villages for Castle collectors-
well, if you *need* a village for the single peasant to live in...

For smaller sets, there could be typical cars, trucks, and people for the same
cities... little Parisian public works trucks, London Bobby minifigs...

Anyway.  I think it would sell incredibly well, both in those cities and to
people who *wish* they were in those cities.  And it doesn't have ot be an
"adult" theme- kids could learn all about other cultures!

Sigh, indeed.
