 Dear LEGO / 1760
  Palm Tree Junior

Dear LEGO, I personally believe that your 4x4, 3-piece palms take the fun out of building (you can't it two feet tall). And I would suggest that you consider bringing back the old, multi-piece palms. Sincerely, Jamie Bliss age 11 dedicated lego (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) Dear LEGO, I'd like to reinforce this. There has been at least one lengthy discussion about this that I'm aware of: (URL) this pieces is not a successful choice. The previous trees were what LEGO is all about - flexibility and modularity. This (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) Me too, a thousand times over! I actually didn't buy the big adventurers set from last year, as the new palm tree would have depressed me too much, but that's just me eh? I've recently increased my stash to over 60 of them, so I should be okay (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Here's a third: Dear LEGO, We don't like them either. Dad won't let us play with his old ones so please bring the multipart trees back so we can get some more. - Taya (10) and Nik (7) "Our dad has more LEGO than your dad" (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Yeah LEGO, those juniorized palm trees are disgusting. My 4- and 6 year old children don't like them either. Think of it. I don't EVER will buy another set that includes those trees. NEVER. Arnold (...) building (...) bringing (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) Good plan. We bought one set bearing a mono-palm, <set:5976>, but we never will again! EVER. Steve (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) Yep, me either. For a while I was planning on buying the big one <set:5986> but after getting the 5976 I decided against it. The palm tree was a major reason why. -Shiri (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) I bought a second 5976, on clearance, and *threw out* 2 of 3 pieces of the new palm tree. (I kept the 2x2 round plate.) This is the only Lego element I've ever discarded so. I even keep broken pieces around. James (URL) getting paid for this (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) The only good thing about that tree is that minifigure hands can hold onto the trunk. You can have monkeys climbing the palm trees! Does that make it worth keeping? I guess that's up to you... ;-) JohnG, GMLTC (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) I remember playing with my first tree and thinking how fabulous it was, that wasn't LEGO a great toy because it was inventive and managed to create a tree from the most unlikely looking bits. Then I had fun bending them and shaping them to my (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) It's kind of sad, actually... Having palm trees actually used to be a reason TO buy the sets... now it's a reason AGAINST buying them. I used to justify my set buying with the fact that sets had a palm tree in them. That's one reason I've (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

My wife and I agree with this thread. Unipalms suck. I like making long fire hoses with my palm trunks. Now I can't. Has anyone noticed that if you take the green bits off of the unipalms and put them on the baseplate. Now imagine your child (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

I'm taking my husband's cold medication away now. giggle... PS: Yes, we believe the unipalms are pathetic excuses for foliage and an example of juniorization which continues to be an insult even to children. Respectfully, Xandria.... who is now (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Palm Tree Junior

(...) Strictly speaking, the 1x2 brick with side clip isn't a POOP--you can't build it out of other pieces. But it is a juniorized, un-lego-ish nightmare. Should have been a 1x2 plate with a side clip. Steve (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Uh, WHAT 1x2 plate with side clip? I've only ever seen 1x1, and you can't make the 1x2 brick with side clip with a 1x1 plate with side clip. (...) -- Tom Stangl ***(URL) Visual FAQ home ***(URL) Bay Area DSMs (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) I find this piece good, actually. It allows me to center things in walls that are even in length (2 studs, 4 studs, etc), which can't be done with a 1x1 plate w/clip.
