Hm. I had a thought that some peasants might be leading a horse, not riding
but leading one. Not that I know how that'd work...

I made a couple of pack horses using the Adventurer backpacks.
Put the solid backs (1x2 brick & plate) into the horse's back,
and then hang a backpack off of each side.  I have a tiny caravan
consisting of a goldsmith and his guards that uses this design.

That is something I mentioned probably 2 years ago in a very long rant
about some things that LEGO could do to make things a little more
realistic... I believe I was looking at a playmobil catalog just before
posting that message.. I'm sure a search on Deja would find it on RTL...
I'd still love to see something like this created, why do they always
have to carry their weapons?  some of those swords can get pretty durn
heavy to be lugging around all day long :(

I remember one other thing I've always wanted is more sculpted shields,
not these flat things with print, go back to the round shields, and add
some small dents or a small hole something to make it look a little
battleworn or curve out the teardrop ones, or make them bigger, kinda
like the shields the Gungans used in Star Wars.
Maybe I'll go search that post out.. there were a lot of good ideas in
that one...

Lego isn't a toy, it's a way of life!
