I would use the following handling, if it's ok (and datsville-castle will
really start):
- Jonathan doing the MPD
- I doing the rendering and uploading of the actual pics to my site
- Sending the archiv pics to you for making a nice gallery.
This would make the handling more easy and we would not have to send that • much
around. I got enough webspace to do a nice site, but if you got "tons of
webspace" I think it would be a nice place for the archiv.

What do you think? Will we give it a try?

Works for me.  I'll probably put it on one of two accounts, possibly

Excellent!  It looks like we might actually be getting off the ground here...

All we need now is a concensus as to what we're actually modeling.

My preference is either:
a: the 'roving dat file' approach that Mookie (I think) suggested, or
b: a 'classic castle' approach, where we did the plug together approach (ala
6040, 6067, etc)

Other ideas?  Preferences?

I vote for option B because then people do not have to wait because one person is
holding up the works for whaever reason. A few rules that I insist on if I do the
mpd:
1.no use of parts that do not exist/have never existed in colors you have used
them in (in case someone ever tries to build the model or any of the segments)
2.use of unofficial parts is totally ok but make sure that theuy are avalable
3.minifigs are optional.
4.all dat files must be posted to cad.dat.models (unlike a certain set of fire
truks in a certain town that has the name of datsville) if you have a really good
reason not to post them then I will consider it.
5.no step commands to be used
6.no extra meta commands (e.g. rotate commands)
7.mpd files to be used instead of inlining especially with unofficial parts.
8.files may be edited so that the final mpd file has only one copy of various
unofficial parts.

I can also probobly help out with some of the html if need be.

I plan to do a gatehouse to get us started. it will be in the style of the
gatehouse used in my warwick castle model.

(...) Why no STEP commands? Sensibly laid out STEP commands can make a submodel much more easy to understand by a person looking at it. And I can't see why including the STEP commands is a hassle for anyone using the DAT files. Fredrik (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)
