One question, did you work out a storyboard including exactly which MOCs you
would need before building, or did you build first and then design the story
around your MOCs?

Does anyone else with experience of this sort have any stories to tell on
how to go about planning such presentations?

If I may add my two cents to this as of yet small discussion.

I find with myself it's mainly that I come up with the characters first, then
story, then MOCs.

However, I must say that I find I have the best luck if I come up with just the
raw plot.  As in the basic must-happen events and the order in which they must
occur (Plot-Outline).  Then I come up with ideas for MOCs for the events to
take place in/on unless the event involves the MOC directly (in which case the
idea for the MOC has already been decided).

I find if I do things this way, as I build the MOC, I begin to then mentally
come up with how the story progresses through my MOC/scenery as I build it.

For example, if I were to build a forest, and just happen to place two trees in
just the right way, I may want to have a character jump out from or dash
between those two trees to further the plot.

In my opinion, the MOC is better suited to the story, because the MOC was
created as the story was running through my head.

In this way, through this open ended process, a longer story is more able to
adapt to new characters and pieces as LEGO makes them available.  Such as the
werewolf costume or the new Star Wars figs and bits.  It also alows the longer
story to adapt to new MOC ideas, such as the great Minotaur and Centaur ideas
that have come about in the past months.

In short term stories such as Lenny's, a more concrete character and plot
developement can be used without hurting the story.  But in a two year process
like Ikros, it was much easier to keep the plot outline concrete, but to keep
the actions more loose so that I could use new bits to enhance my story.

It may not work for everyone, but it works for me (or at least I delude myself
into thinking it works for me and my story).

And that's my two cents.
