  Re: L3P question

(...) No, not that I'm aware of. Thanks for asking. /Lars (16 years ago, 25-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: LDraw road macro update

(...) Cool POVray macro. I may be forced to use this when I post future CAD car MOCs. Tim (16 years ago, 25-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  LDraw road macro update

I've updated my LDraw road macro for POV-Ray. The macros have mostly been combined into a single item and now use a more convenient syntax. I've also added an Archemedes spiral in addition to the Nautilus spiral, and removed the dependancy on Chris (...) (16 years ago, 25-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: New POV-Ray Edge Tracing Utility

(...) Here's a quote from the POV-Ray documentation: "Triangle mesh objects (mesh and mesh2) can now be used in CSG objects such as difference and intersect, because, after adding inside_vector, they do have a defined 'inside'. This will only work (...) (16 years ago, 24-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  L3P question

Is code generated using L3P copyrighted in any way? I would like to publish some POV-Ray macros that use some snippets, and wanted to check first whether I can do this. -Mike (16 years ago, 24-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: New POV-Ray Edge Tracing Utility

(...) Ah, thanks for the clarification. -Mike (16 years ago, 19-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: New POV-Ray Edge Tracing Utility

(...) It certainly COULD be modified. However, it's up to Lars whether or not this actually happens. I looked at the mesh2 syntax, and changing to using it wouldn't really be trivial (although it probably wouldn't be all that difficult). Bear in (...) (16 years ago, 18-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: New POV-Ray Edge Tracing Utility

(...) Could L3P be modified to use the mesh2 primitive? I notice also that L3P doesn't output the "insidevector" parameter, so LDraw creations can't be used in CSG operations. This is disappointing. -Mike (16 years ago, 17-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: New POV-Ray Edge Tracing Utility

(...) It looks quite interesting, and the technical description makes it sound like it does things the "right" way, so the quality can be quite high. Having said that, it won't work with L3P output with primitive substitution, because it only (...) (16 years ago, 15-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  New POV-Ray Edge Tracing Utility

Hello all, Just browsing the POV-Ray homepage and came across a link to a utility called POV-Edge. It consists of a standalone Windows application and a POV-Ray macro. It’s basically an edge tracer, creating images that appear to be sketched or (...) (16 years ago, 15-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

Thanks, man. That did the trick. (16 years ago, 1-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) If you're in Windows, do the following: Select Tools->Edit Master POVRAY.INI Add the following to the bottom of the file: LibraryPath="C:LDRAWPOVlgeo" Change the path above to match your LGEO path. Save the file. Back in POVRay for Windows, (...) (16 years ago, 1-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) Where would I find the input box? (16 years ago, 1-Jun-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) If you have LGEO installed in a directory just add "+Ilgeodirectory" (no exclamation marks) to the command line input box in POVRAY and it should find it. Tim (16 years ago, 13-May-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) And I forgot to mention that when I try to use LGEO parts, POV-Ray gives me a warning that it can't include the file lg_defs.inc. And include commands are one of my many fuzzy areas in POV-Ray. (16 years ago, 13-May-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

Thanks, guys, for the quick responses. The color 256 in MLCad advice works great. As for the suggestion regarding the "finish { reflection {0.0} ambient 0.5 diffuse 1 } line, where would I insert it in the POV-ray code? I've been learning somethings (...)   Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

Daniel, You can do whatever you want if you dare to edit the POV file before rendering. POVRay isn't that difficult to fafthom, and there are lots of things you can do that creates a better render. Like this: (URL) for example (I think I can still (...) (16 years ago, 12-May-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) Hi Daniel, It has to do with the lighting model. There are three components that are factored and then summed to get the total brightness of a given pixel: ambient - light that comes from all directions. On a sunny day on the north side of (...) (16 years ago, 12-May-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) Use LDraw color number 256 (black rubber) for the tires. I'm not sure about your other questions. --Travis (16 years ago, 12-May-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: How do I...? 3 questions about POV-Ray.

(...) The best solution is to use the LGEO library ((URL) which can be a bit of a hassle to install but improves very many things in your renders. (...) I'm not sure that this is possible. Since a blue sky emits blue light it will affect the scene. (...) (16 years ago, 12-May-08, to lugnet.cad.ray)
