The suggestion has come up to host Datsville on ldraw.org.  I understand it is
comfortable on Lugnet, but I'm willing to entertain the idea if the rest of
you (namely John) are.  Please look over the following discussion and reply
accordingly.

I didn't even think of wanting DAT Explorer on the site, was it
suggested by someone (before you just now?)  That is a good idea
to at least have a DAT Explorer/Datsville page there.  But from what
I gather Datsville is quite comfortable on LUGNET, which is fine with
me.  If John wants to move it to ldraw.org, I'll accomodate it.

I was thinking that if you want ldraw.org to truly become a centralized
resource center, things like Datsville and DAT Explorer could give people
a taste of what LDraw is all about.

Those are good thoughts.  I had thought about wanting to host Datsville, but
not DAT Explorer (then again I guess they tie in hand-in-hand).  The site
could definitely link to them (I just haven't gotten around to it yet).  My
current short/medium-term goals for continuing to make the site centralized
were summed up in the Winter Goals post:

but your suggestions of integrating Datsville/DAT Explorer are good ones.
Lets just see what the rest of the users think about pulling it from LUGNET,
it seems pretty situated there.  I honestly don't know which would be a better
place for it.

(...) Maybe that's where the model editors would come in. But it's a headache nonetheless. (...) I was thinking along the lines of people impersonating others. But there are probably other rules too... (...) I was thinking that if you want ldraw.org (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
