Amazing or not, that’s the way it is and software developers should have that in mind.

Yes. The software developers of Notepad. Do you really expect a Mac text-editor to work the Microsoft way because MS Notepad can’t read a text file properly?

I have very grudgingly updated the file and will probably not do so again (my co-webmasters may do so but I believe I’m allowed a certain amount of decisions-of-priniciple in my voluntary job). I can see no indication that this is an invalid LDraw file 1 and resent being forced to change because of the laziness (or more sinister motives) of MS programmers.

I strongly suggest getting a decent text editor as there are plenty of free ones out there (I recommend NoteTab Lite).

Tim (not on behalf of the LDraw webmasters but talking as an LDraw webmaster)

1 Is there a spec on what form of newline to use? If there is and it forces DOS newlines then I will make sure they are used in future.

(...) If "decent" means powerful and powerful means a 20Mb+ installation file and 30 seconds loading time, I say thanks but no thanks to your strong suggestion. /Tore (18 years ago, 1-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, FTX)

(...) Following further information about compatibility in some LDraw software I will ensure that subsequent MPDs posted to the website are in DOS format. I assume something will be posted about these compatibility issues soon. Tim (18 years ago, 1-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, FTX)
