So I installed the Mac version of L3Lab last night, and wouldn't you
know, it took over control of .dat files from ldglite, like I expected.
Double click a dat file on the desktop or click on one in safari and it
pops up in L3Lab now.
However when I tried to change it back using the Finder "Get Info"
"Open With" setting I failed, mostly. It did offer me both l3lab
and ldglite as choices, but it always reverted to l3lab whenever
I chose the "Change All" option. Weird. Is this a Tiger bug? Or
is there some greater magic in the L3Lab info.plist settings. They're
slightly different. Do we need to make the settings match up better
to allow changing the default viewer? I'll have to touch the time
stamp on the ldglite info.plist file and see if that makes anything
happen, and maybe I'll reboot.
Anyhow, in my testing I managed to make L3Lab crash a few times.
I think it was when it was already open and I clicked on a link or
double clicked a dat file in the finder. Or maybe it was when I
killed the L3Lab window, but it still existed in some half dead state
up top in the menu. (What do you call that?) I'll have to test it
some more to make sure though...
And hey, FWIW I finally found the missing compiler/linker flag to
make gcc stop building the ppc part of my universal binary for a
G4 processor or better: -force_cpusubtype_ALL
That should make any G3 owners looking for an ldglite update happy. ;^)
Heh.
Enjoy,
Don

| (...) Excellent! I forgot about L3Lab for the Mac. I'll have to try that out. It's too bad there isn't a category between LSRiskCategoryNeutral and LSRiskCategorySafe that lets you decide right then if you want to open it, or just save it (like in (...)
