  Re: Self-Certification in parts tracker

(...) Actually, since the previous time that this was raised, I have refrained from self-certifying, and at that time cancelled all my existing self-certifications. But on several of these files, that is still the last action! I'd like to see an (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Self-Certification in parts tracker

(...) Hi reviewers, I am also not disturbed by self-certification practice. First the practice is mainly from people like Chris Dee and Franklin W. Cain that I have high respect for, because of their past and present monumentuous contribution. Their (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: 30375cs0.dat, "MiniBot SW Battle Droid (complete)"

(...) [snip] (...) Aaaaaahhhhh! I yield the point. (Seeing the list really helped.) Please make the necessary filename changes. Thanks, Franklin (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: 30375cs0.dat, "MiniBot SW Battle Droid (complete)"

(...) No big deal. It's a trivial thing, but if I can get everyone to use it the same way, I won't have to spend as much time twiddling part titles. :) Taking things a little out of the order you wrote them... (...) Sorry, I guess I wasn't totally (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

"the new way" (was: Re: Self-Certification in parts tracker)

(...) Actually, we're on track this year to release approximately 800 files. That's as many files as we've ever released, back in 1998 and 1999. Here are the released file counts, starting from the first 'LCAD Update'. Year Files 1997 128 1998 806 (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Self-Certification in parts tracker

I thought about this issue while I was at work and I've decided to reverse my opinion on the matter. I feel that self-cert is OK as long as the user doing it is responsible and feels comfortable doing it. I probably won't start self-certifying my (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Self-Certification in parts tracker

(...) I don't recall the discussion either, but that doesn't change my opinion (...) I think is new system is WAY better. Take a look at part 2598 and you'll see why I think this way. I'd rather have the process be slow and put out quality vice (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: dithered colors w/ Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

(...) its really a dull silvery chrome part. like as the new spiderman green goblin set, there are dull chrome parts in it. try 503 pov might not do it as chrome (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: dithered colors w/ Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

(...) More or less. Except that --eek!-- the page has disappeared! :o It's back now: (URL). I restored the page from an old file, it needs some ... work. But it's better than nothing, for now. Steve (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: dithered colors w/ Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

(...) Yes. Color-383 is the "official" choice for "Silver". Furthermore, the chrome on my Boba Fett jetpacks look like silver to me. However, please do _not_ make the default color of any file anything other than "Main Color" (color-16); do not (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: dithered colors w/ Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

(...) AAAaaaaaah! so that's the reason! (...) Yes, that's VERY helpful. I will fix that immediately, and repost. A question though: Should I really use color 383 (chrome) for the body of Jango's helmpack and the details on Boba's? Neither of them (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New Part: Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

And the "exponential" numbers need to be converted to just plain zero. Franklin (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New Part: Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

Also, you'll need to remove the "WRITE" statements from the file before uploading it to the Tracker. HTH. ;-) Franklin (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: dithered colors w/ Jango Fett Helmet/Jetpack

Tim, You need to make extra subfiles, for the dithered colors. (LDraw requires this; otherwise, LDraw messes up rendering the dithered colors.) "Dithered colors" are those color codes from 256 to 511. (for ex.): Simply copy all the quads for (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: bushman hat...

[fut --> ".dev" ] (...) I don't recall who did it, but I do recall that someone did encode a version of the bushman hat. I don't recall if he ever posted the file to LUGNet, though... Actually, since this file does *not* represent a part as delivered by TLC[1], the title should be flagged (Shortcut), not (Complete) (or (complete), as you put it). (...) In (...)   Re: Self-Certification in parts tracker

(...) I do *NOT* recall this discussion. Was this on LUGNet? How long ago? Or, was it on "RTL"? (Does anyone still use "RTL"?) Also, FWIW, I asked Steve, before I ever did any self-certification, if he had any qualms about this. He said that if (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: 30375cs0.dat, "MiniBot SW Battle Droid (complete)"

[FUT ".dev"] (...) Uh, why? Part # 30375 isn't unique the the "Star Wars" theme, it's used in the "Life on Mars" theme as well, so I thougt that the theme should be part of the filename (as with pattern numbers). Since there are three patterns for (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Issue with some of the holds on the Parts Tracker

This post wasn't directed at you specifically, it's been brewing for some time now. Actually, the holds you put on today were more or less justified but the hold I've seen in the past have sometime bordered on the ridiculous. -Orion (make it (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
