I'll give it a twirl!! No more DXF's!!! I use 3DS MAX, but have Polytrans, so conversions from LWO to MAX is a snap. Hello, a new converter exists since a few days. It can convert LDraw Objects (*.DAT) into Lightwave Objects (*.lwo) and Lightwave Scene Files (*.lws) (compatible with Version 5.5, 5.6, 6.x); running under Win 95 / 98 / NT / 2000.
