Re: Parts with odd angles —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Thanks, I'll compile a list of the parts I've had the need for some angle to use and send it to you. Fredrik (25 years ago, 14-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Jeff Stembel
(...) Put it in a separate text file, too. That way it can be printed out, and one never has to ALT-Tab into LDAO to find the angle. Jeff (25 years ago, 14-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Well, I wasn't going to compile an "über-list" of all the oddly angled parts available, just the ones I've had some problems with determining the angle of. In fact, I think I'll post the list here, as it isn't too long: 2904 Pivot angle: 15 (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) I'm probably stating the obvious here, but... Please also include the coordinates for the pivot as well as the angle. You may now freely deduce how many times I've burned myself on this simple concept! :-, Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 14-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Terry Keller
(...) Not obvious to me. Clarify what you mean a little. (...) Deduction takes brain cells. Why not just amuse us with an anecdote? -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Okay. In order to pivot a piece, you need two pieces of information: the *angle* of rotation, and the *axis* of rotation. Given one, it's a little work to figure out the other. Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Note that the angle and axis of rotation can be wrapped up nicely in a LDraw matrix -- suppose we supply this data as a preformatted matrix? Thus, a Technic Motorcycle Pivot Rotation Guide would be an LDraw line with the proper rotation matrix (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Steve Bliss
(...) That's for hinged pieces where the hinge's axis is not located at <0,0,0>, right? Steve (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) This is a troll, right? It's for every piece whose axis of rotation is not located at <0,0,0>. Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Steve Bliss
(...) c /hinged/rotating/ (...) Not really, just trying to clarify. (...) What's the axis of rotation for a 2x4 brick? (expected answer: "it doesn't have one") Steve (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Parts with odd angles —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Gotcha. (...) Sure, but there are several non-hinged pieces that do have an axis of rotation (or pivoting, anyway), the ones coming to mind are: 2904.DAT Technic Motorcycle Pivot 2342.DAT Space Control Panel (needs work) Also, tons of pieces, (...)
