Need part number for a dangerous predator —Lee Gaiteri
Submitted for your approval, my very first Ldraw part: The cat. I'm a newbie to the program, via MLcad, and I've been enjoying the experience a lot. I really needed this part, and as far as I could see no one was working on it, so I decided to try a (...) (23 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Austin Greenwood
(...) Welcome!!! I just looked at the cat part. Pretty good for a first part! But i can not help you with the part number, Although it should be printed some where on the part. Any how, welcome as a member to the CAD Community. C-Ya!! --Austin (23 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Lee Gaiteri
(...) Interesting... I never noticed the part numbers before. On the cat, all I can see is some writing in the stud hole underneath: (c) LEGO 1 07 That 7 might be a 1; it's very hard to tell because it's at the very edge. However 1 07 as far as I (...)          Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Chris Dee
(...) Sounds like this is not the part number. Many parts have numbers of the form "n nn" or "n-nn" which probably refer to indivudual sites within the injection mould. Only the larger ones have room to include the TLC part number, typically in the (...) (23 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I think it's a pretty amazing first part! Nice work. I'm not sure about use of the edge lines on things like the eyes, etc. These get lost when you POV. If there really are marks or grooves in the part there, you may want to try to model them. (...) (23 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Lee Gaiteri
(...) Thanks! The edge lines I put in for Ldraw's and MLcad's sake; they make it easier to see the important features of the cat's face, plus the edge along the bottom I think is important to preserve. In POV-Ray of course they vanish, though. I (...) (23 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) I think it is quite correct of you to add the edge lines where there is sharp corners in the actual part. The ones you did look correctly done to me. If you feel brave, you could also try to add conditional edge lines along the cat, but I (...) (23 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Lee Gaiteri
(...) Thanks. I hadn't considered conditional edge lines before (this being my first part, it never crossed my mind; I'm still fairly new to Ldraw and MLcad), but I liked the idea of putting them in. Here's the file with edge lines. I didn't do this (...) (23 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Thanks! The cat looks much better with the conditional edge lines. (...) That's a good idea for a LDraw tool! I generally find that edge lines are fairly difficult to handle, so I reckon other people will enjoy the idea as well. Fredrik (23 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Lee Gaiteri
(...) I've done a little more work on the edger, and in the process I've discovered it's a *dandy* integrity checker. Edges that don't match up to just two shapes tend to leave one edge dangling; this helped me find an unnecessary triangle in the (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Need part number for a dangerous predator —Lee Gaiteri
The latest update to the cat part: This version contains edge lines, and some adjustments to the face. I rounded out the cheeks a little more, and adjusted the mouth line. Still to do: I have to split two quads into a quad and a triangle each. I (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Cat -- final version? —Lee Gaiteri
