Technic Gear 36 tooth double bevel

Hi all, Just wondering re this part: Is anyone working on it? If not I'll give it a go, but it will only be a basic mock-up Does anyone know what the part number is? I can't see any number on it, but I can't see any number on the 20 tooth double (...) (20 years ago, 2-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Parts vs subparts for compound parts

(...) That's why I want to know for sure what to do for new authored parts. (I can't always look how existing parts were done, as these may not be conform to current rules, like you said.) (...) Many windows have just a simple rectangular glass (...) (20 years ago, 31-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Parts vs subparts for compound parts

(...) There isn't always a flat rule for every case. And we'e got plenty of 'legacy' files that don't conform to current rules. (...) Generally, a unique number for each file. If we don't know any of the numbers, then we might use s-suffixes on a (...) (20 years ago, 31-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Parts vs subparts for compound parts

Several parts consist of several bits, like metal connectors for electric parts and glass for windows and doors and compound housing (e.g. top and bottom housing). How should all the various bits be named and where should they be stored? (In (...) (20 years ago, 31-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Question about part 30147

(...) No it's not. Studs are for modelling studs only. (20 years ago, 28-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

  Question about part 30147

I just noticed that part 30147 does something that I haven't seen done in any other part. It uses the stud primitive in a way that is inside out. This causes a problem in LDView: (URL) Notice the Lego logos are mirrored in the headlight openings, (...) (20 years ago, 28-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

  Re: Faces going inside parts

(...) Well, the ndis primitives will look better if anyone ever makes a transparent version of the part. Have fun, Don (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Faces going inside parts

mkennedy reviewed part 969 ((URL) with the comment to use the box4o8a primitive twice. When I checked this part to use this primitive I noticed that the rectangular faces go inside the round cylinders. (Why didn't I notice this when BFCing this (...)   Cooking recipe for parts: Ingrediens and preparations

(...) Good idea; that would be really nice, but it doesn't seem to be possible? Or does anybody have a suggestion?   Getting started in Parts Authoring

As suggested by Neils, I'm moving my inquiries on the basics of parts authoring to this forum. In CAD, I asked how to add a new MLCAD folder to store primitives, sized-up primitives and parts-of-other-parts. The reply was simple enough. It did have (...)   Re: wannabe parts author needs mentor

(...) Great idea, but I think lugnet.cad.dat.parts would be a better choice for such questions. But I'd suggest that you start with some simple parts while you learn the basics. Personally I started with the duplo piece (URL) x250>. While you're (...) (20 years ago, 22-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Part requests: Lots and lots of parts

Re: Part requests: Lots and lots of parts

David, With a list that long, it looks like you'd better learn to author parts. It really is a lot to ask others to do the work for you. When do they get to play with LEGO? Kevin (...) (20 years ago, 12-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Part requests: Lots and lots of parts

I've been tinkering around with LDraw a bit...well, okay, more than a bit, but nearly every MOC that I've tried to recreate in LDR format has run into at least one missing piece.
