  Re: N-Fedge primitives

(...) I missed responding to this one specific point. In general, aliases amongst the primitives would be a bad thing. They would primarily add more files to an already too-large list of primitives, and would only provide duplicate function. In this (...)   Set 8652 Render

I recently modelled set 8642. I still need to do some file clean up so I'm not quite ready to release the DAT file but look for it on my website ((URL) in the coming weeks. Here's the render I did as a teaser: (URL) that the trans-smoke parts aren't (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: LDraw.org's November Model and Scene of the Month Winners

(...) Well yes, kind of. Since I only get a max of about 2-3 entries per month for each contest, I roll over the non-winning entries until they win or for 3 months. This keeps the field competive and also allows well made entries that may have been (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: N-Fedge primitives

(...) The consistency is in the basic four fractions: 1-4, 2-4, 3-4, 4-4. The other measures are (more or less) deliberate inconsistencies to name files that don't fit the basic standard. (...) Yes, that would be an incorrect consideration. Part (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, FTX)

  Re: MPD Builder ?

(...) Thanks Ahui, I was not aware of this LPub feature... now if only I could find how to use it ??? Philo (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org's November Model and Scene of the Month Winners

(...) Am I mistaken in thinking that this month's submissions look remarkably like last month's? Allister (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, FTX)

  Re: MPD Builder ?

(...) Might I suggest you try LPub (URL). It can create MPDs for you. -AHui LDraw Help Desk (URL) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: N-Fedge primitives

(...) It's not really that hard, but my mind recoils at a senseless inconsistency, and this, and the following, are it. Note that I suggested an alias, not move, and certainly not removing the existing names. (...) "0 Circle 1.0". 5-8edge should be (...)   Re: Wheels and train wheels with metal axles

(...) Now I am aware of the non existence of x245c01 (with normal axle). I didn't know that before you posted about it a short time ago. It's the 7039 wheel that came with both types of axles (I have both). I will fix the incorrect versions when all (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Wheels and train wheels with metal axles

(...) thanks a lot for all your work on these cool and useful parts! I do not have the competence to answer your questions, but I have one hint about: (URL) part does not exist at all (as far as I know). Would you mind to delete that upload? [SNIP] (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Wheels and train wheels with metal axles

(...) Actually, James had some of the same issues that we are trying to deal with now because at first he did not know that 7039 was the official part number for the 4-stud wheel with its axle. In 1998-05 he issued 479.dat and 479a.dat. 7039 did not (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

New parts: Scala Jewlery Rings  [DAT]

Scala Jewelery Rings set 4306 contained three different sized rings. Unfortunately I have only two of these rings, so I could not create all three. As my two rings have a 1 and 3 imprinted between the studs, I think I have ring #1 (the smallest) and (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Thanks!

I'm glad you liked it! That one is my favourite also. If anyone has any requests for a render of an official set or MOC, I'd be happy to give it a shot! Trevor Hewer (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: N-Fedge primitives

(...) Great - we are always looking for constructive help. (...) I don't see the benefit from this - the naming convention is well established and existing part authors know how to work with it. Is it that hard to learn? (...) Yes - as I have (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Wheels and train wheels with metal axles

(...) The really big problem is that there is no agreement of any standard. This has been a subject of a "political" issue that I don't think is solved. My opinion is that James Jessimam from the beginning set the most reasonable standard in (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

  N-Fedge primitives

Hello, everyone. This was posted with NNTP, but seems to have dissappeared somehow, so I'm re-posting with the http interface. My appolgies if it turns up twice. I'm just getting started with LDraw, and returning to the lego-driven days of my youth, (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: 2648(2?) Container Grab

(...) The 1-01 is raised very slightly from the 2648 so it makes sense. (...) Ok, wish me luck :) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 2648(2?) Container Grab

(...) Conventional wisdom is that imprints of the form N-NN are present to identify the indidual "well" in moulds that produce multiple copies of a part. Considering that the matching grip is 2649, I think it is highly likely that the part number (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw on G4TechTV Screen Savers

(...) Thanks. I've been playing with the half-cutaway like that for a while, I think it gives a really cool effect...but it's more pronounced on smaller models like car.dat or even the Orbisphere. With as many pieces as the crane, you don't get the (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw on G4TechTV Screen Savers

Hey! My program's been shown on TV now. I feel so fulfilled ;-). Well, maybe not quite, but it was still nice to see. Nice job on the segment, Tim. I don't think I would have thought to use wireframe cutaway to show both wireframe and solid. (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.cad)
