New Part : Was Re: 9V Track Crossing (32087.dat)  [DAT]

In lugnet.cad.dat.parts, Ludo Soete writes: Hi, Here's the promissed Train Track 9V Crossing. It uses four subparts. Two of them are used in the Train Track 9V Straight, two are new. Those subfiles are: 2865s04.dat 2865s06.dat 32087s01.dat (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Rotation/scaling matrices... reference?

Okay, I think I've pretty much reached the limit of what I can do with my "experimental" approach to dealing with matrices. I did learn today that yes, you can use it to skew, at least with 2D objects... that's darn handy for printing on slopes. Now (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Setting folder icons in Brickshelf

(...) I just managed to do the same thing myself: (URL) J (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Part files?

(...) I suspect it's probably because the linux files use lowercase filenames. In the notes Andrew mentions that it's important to use uppercase folder names for the OS 8-9 version of ldglite. (URL) not sure why, but I think the old MAC parts (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  Part files?

I figured we need a parts file that will work with the 3 different apps: BrickDraw3D, ldglite (os 8-9), and ldglite (os x). I got the linux parts to work with ldglite (os x), so I figured I would test those with BrickDraw3D and ldglite (os 8-9). (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  Re: Liftarm width

(...) Yes, liftarm parts should be 18 LDU wide. Skinny liftarms should be 10 LDU tall, full-liftarms (aka, smooth beams) should be 20 LDU tall. Steve (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part - 2587 Knights Armor  [DAT]

Hi all, I tested my armor in ensemble wtih a helmet and what I had to notice, there is a ovelapping with it. I looked at the real parts and I found that the helmet is in the bottom to sloping. Look here: 1 7 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 2587.dat 1 1 0 0 (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Rubber belts modelling utility

Hi Kyle, (...) ... but I should have understood ! (...) (URL) I'll have a look at it if I find time (trigonometry is a little more tricky here...) (...) Yes, I think so too - though the two axis rotation of straight parts might not be so easy. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

snip (...) Well, you don't need pov-ray other than to make the actual file. You need to get the .pov file into a .inc file WITHOUT any camera, background etc. Just the pure mesh :) Its quite complicated, remember there will be a tutorial for this in (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

(...) What do you mean? Can I import a .pov file into forester in order to place it? Are you saying that I can create my lego-plane .pov file and then somehow import it? I did not think this was possible? Perhaps an easier thing to do, although I'm (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hi-res sphere?

(...) Travis Cobbs made one once upon a time. I used it in this MPD file. (URL) doesn't have type 5 lines yet, but in the comments he promised to add them if anyone uses the sphere primitive in their parts. :) Don (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

(...) You can use the rotational option in Forester- and using the model choord on the map I know it may be confusing, but fiddle around with the program. It gets really easy. I'll show you some of my stuff when some of this work load lightens :( (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

<Snip> (...) I have the unregistered version of Forester. In that version YOU CAN add a sky with clouds. It is 3D clouds that you can NOT add or the grass. There are ways around this off course. 1) Buy it or 2) 'think on the non-legit side' In any (...) (23 years ago, 27-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Hi-res sphere?

I'm working on some parts that will need a hi-res 1/8 sphere primitive. Has anyone done up a version of this? How about a 3D tool that could build it? If I don't hear anything within a couple of days, I'll probably start working up the part in (...) (23 years ago, 26-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

(...) Lucky! I can't afford the $35 to register... without sky and grass, Forester loses some of its purpose. Please give us more information! John Kruer (23 years ago, 26-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

Yeah, Forester is what I used :) But now we gotta work on that texture. Kai (...) (23 years ago, 26-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

(...) Did I hear this right? Another "tutorial" author? =) Please let me know so that I can update the LDRAW tutorial list. (...) Not to be outdone. Check this image out to see what FORESTER can do. I did it following the on-line tutorial. (URL) be (...) (23 years ago, 26-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

Teaser for all you Terragen Addicts :P

Well I got it to work. .Pov files into Terragen heightfeilds (texture has to be worked on) I will be writing up a guide to doing this. It's a lot easier (no offense) than Ahui's way. Take a look: (URL) not pretty, but it is added in. I will work on (...) (23 years ago, 26-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Online Mac instructions.

(...) I'd consider ldglite more of an UNpopular FIRST generation editor. If you use the linux parts, you'll have to tell how to unzip and untar them on OS 8 and 9. (and probably on OSX as well) I think the ldlite instructions only cover the command (...) (23 years ago, 26-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)
