Star Wars Minifig Icons (was Re: Macintosh Lego Starwars Fans....)

(...) There now appears to be a PC set available, if someone wants to check it out (I have a Mac). The download is at another site: (URL) look fantastic! Page says they're by Dave Brasgalla and Gedeon Maheux -Suz (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.fun, lugnet.general)

  Matte Spray on Minifig Heads?

Speaking of fixing minifigs, I've thought about taking some flat black acryllic paint, using a 000 brush to paint on those fading eyes and mouths, then coating 'em with a quick spray of matte finish (like Krylon). Does anyone know if this will (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

Re: Armless minifigs -- TLC Consumer Affairs policy?

My (two-part) advice: 1. Cannabalize new, less desirable minifigs. 2. Trade armless minifig torsos to craigo-lego. (He's always looking for more "spare parts" for his works. ;-) Franklin (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

Re: Armless minifigs -- TLC Consumer Affairs policy?

Yeah, that occurred to me, but it kind of goes against my grain, although I may have to go that way. There was mention of a shipping/ handling fee, so I may just cannabilize new, less desirable figures, and then forget about them, rather than pay to (...) How about cannibalizing the new figs... then sending the newly-armless figs in? -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

Armless minifigs -- TLC Consumer Affairs policy?

As a result of my own small FOTW, I've suddenly come up with the need to know about fixing armless minifigs. I got a goodly pile of 1970s-80s era figs in multiple themes from a thrift shop, but some of them are armless and/or handless. I was more (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Silver Stickers

(...) Have any of the painters tried gold or siver leaf on LEGO's? The key is if the base paint used to adhere the leaf will stick to ABS. The base used on wood is red but I can't remember what is is called. Imitation gold or silver (or even copper) (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Silver Stickers

There probablly are places that will print metalic leaf for you. I've even seen printers (I don't remember if it was laser or Bubble jet) that printed metalic gold. they probablly also have ones that print metalic silver but those are alot shinier (...)   Re: Painting Questions

(...) I as thinking of doing something similar, making a skull visor for a knight. since don't want to mass produce them I haven't decieded wheather I will use a sand mold method to form a new plastic piece or use a gold astronaut's visor and use (...)   Re: Painting Questions

(...) Even TLC does it- see the 'figs in the Tine Milk Truck set and the Velux set. The only thing that worries me about the helmet is the curve- I've never really seen a sticker that looked sharp applied to a curved surface. Well, a surface curved (...)   Re: Painting Questions

(...) I have used Brasso with a Q-Tip and it's worked just fine. ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Painting Questions

(...) I totally forgot about producing stickers! That seems like the best solution for the body especially if I want tight tolerances. I could probably handle the helmet similarly with some careful application. Eric, just so you know, I'm making (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Painting Questions

(...) I used a knife to scrape the paint off of a UFO droid head, but that may not work for all paint types and processes that LEGO uses. Some people use brake fluid or Brasso (I've seen other liquids mentioned, but can't remember them offhand) to (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Painting Questions

I was wondering how everyone has been removing paint from the minifgs. Yesterday I took my first stab at it not realizing how well the original paint is adhered to the bodies. I tried useing isopropyl alcohol which works for my other toys but didn't (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Silver Stickers

(...) During the time I worked as a Copier Tech, 7 years, I learned toner is basically a plastic substance, with other magnetic material conbined. they use about 470 degrees (varies depending on MFG) to fuse the toner to the paper. So the principle (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Silver Stickers

(...) There's a process which (I believe) uses heat to transfer foil to toner. After making copies at Kinko's onto some trans sticker sheets you may yourself be able to apply some silver foil. I've never tried it, but this place has been selling (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Silver Stickers

I'm planning on using stickers to make some classic Castle "knight" minifigs (belt, silver vest), since for some reason TLC never made them in white or yellow. . .I assume designing the stickers should be easy---scan 'em in and touch 'em up the GIMP (...)
