I used a knife to scrape the paint off of a UFO droid head, but that may not
work for all paint types and processes that LEGO uses.
Some people use brake fluid or Brasso (I've seen other liquids mentioned, but
can't remember them offhand) to remove paint without damaging the ABS. I
haven't done too much looking into that, though.

Can't help you there.
As far as mass-producing a torso, have you considered creating a pattern and
applying it as a sticker? That would get you out of removing the paint, and
needing the capability to mass-paint the torsos.

| (...) I totally forgot about producing stickers! That seems like the best solution for the body especially if I want tight tolerances.
