Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Hi Jack, thanks. I'm glad you like them. Since your from St. Louis, I can imagine you liking my Hornet and Eagle as well. (URL) Anyway, the windows on both (actually the canopies on all of my aircraft) are made with transparent plastic, cut to (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Ralph, Very nice, both of them. I was big into military aircraft in high school (so many years ago) and these brought back some good memories. One of these days, I'll get around to building some modern war-birds. What did you use for the glass (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: Stealth gunship

(...) Hi Magnus. Indeed, It does look like a cross between a Comanche and a Cobra. The retractable landing skids are a nifty touch. I doubt that's ever been done on a real helicopter, but it looks good. The overall model is nicely proportioned and I (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Stealth gunship

(...) Plus, it just looks cool! Nice work, Magnus. The landing gear is quite clever; just looking at the first couple pics, it doesn't even seem like it's there. How is the tail rotor held on? Is there a half-pin in the arch, or is it just jammed in (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: Stealth gunship

Robert, The US seems to have moved away from having lighter undersides on both planes and choppers (perhaps because so many missions are at night) but I've seen a number of Russian helicopters with lighter undersides. I'd guess that it has less to (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Stealth gunship

(...) I don't see the utility of having lightened undersides for helicopters since they generally fly so low. It certainly helps high flyers like fighters and bombers. Your MOC is a fine looking helicopter. (17 years ago, 23-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: LEGO AFVs

Don, The wheels or tracks effectively add 2 to 6 studs of width, so starting anything more than 8 wide is going to make for a unrealistically big tank. I'd start with 6 o 8 in width, and maybe two and a half times that in length. I like to make sure (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: LEGO AFVs

Thanks to all who replied to my questions. I have ordered lots of LEGO to build with. It will probably be next week before these come in and I can build. In the meantime, I will study the info presented. I do have a couple of questions. As almost (...) (17 years ago, 22-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Stealth gunship

Hi again, Might as well post another chopper while I'm on a roll:) The Skystalker Stealth Gunship is the first aircraft I've built in a few years. It looks a lot like the classic Cobra gunship, but was mainly inspired by the stealthier Commanche. It (...) (17 years ago, 22-Jul-07, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.military) !

  Going airborne!

Hi all, It's high time for my military arsenal to grow beyond tanks and AFVs: Check out the new Pegasus Assault Chopper. BS folder, when public: (URL) until then: (URL) Pegasus performs in the role of multipurpose assault and transport, and usually (...)   Re: LEGO AFVs

Don, Take a look at my BS folder to see how I've used different tracks and wheels on different vehicles. (URL) with almost all things LEGO, there is no "one size fits all" solution that works for everything. I've experimented with various track (...) (17 years ago, 22-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: LEGO AFVs

(...) Don, Brickmania, (URL) should have a link to instructions for a Panzer V Panther Tank (the link is down now, it might be up later). Thanks, George (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: LEGO AFVs

(...) You can try this for inspiration... (URL) (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  LEGO AFVs

Cross-posted from LEGO Military: I recently attended Brick World and I was really impressed with the city battle. There were many Mechs and AFV's. For some time I have been interested in doing AFV's. The cost of buying mass amounts of separate links (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Military mayhem in the AMCP!

Reporting from the front lines for those who missed it this weekend... Various military forces converged on the Apocalyptic Mecha City Project (AMCP) display and duked it out street by street, cobblestone by cobblestone. There were many troops of (...)   Re: LEGO licenses Indiana Jones

(...) Personally, I hope they make a set of the face melting scene. (17 years ago, 21-Jun-07, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: LEGO licenses Indiana Jones

(...) Don't worry, Al, you may be able to take comfort that the sets include (URL) new guns> in lieu of the murflable symbols. No swastikas(1), but plenty of guns! No problems there! Cheers Richie Dulin (1)IANAN either (17 years ago, 21-Jun-07, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: LEGO licenses Indiana Jones

(...) That symbol featured quite prominently in the films. Was there a special murfled version made for the German market? Maybe lego could do the same, similar to what they did with the Dino Attack theme. Not that I particularly want to see a (...)   Re: LEGO licenses Indiana Jones

(...) I believe they wouldn't be able to use swastikas and still legally sell in Germany. (17 years ago, 21-Jun-07, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: LEGO licenses Indiana Jones

This could also be LEGO's way to slyly "ease" into a military theme. I wouldn't be surprized if they avoid using swastikas and the like, which is just as well perhaps. But I could see this generating all kinds of interestng minifigs and maybe also (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jun-07, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.build.military, FTX)
