    Jeremy Sproat —Eric Sophie
Like it like it like it like it like it Would consider building one Multiple the scale? (URL) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Jeremy Sproat —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) If the former, maybe. If the latter, maybe. ;-) This was really just a sketch, me exploring how to use the Throwbots ball-and-socket joint parts. I hope to return to this model (it's one of my all-time favorites mecha) with this general (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

        Re: Jeremy Sproat —Anthony Babington
did you by chance base it on the Fasa "Warhammer" mech? the resemblance is uncanny... if so it's a very good likeness. if not... YOU LIE!!! (j/k, it's still a very nice mech, and i like how you did the torso and legs and connected them. is there (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

         Re: Jeremy Sproat —Jeremiah VanderMark
(...) Actually, the "Warhammer" was a design lifted from the Robotech series, which was in turn lifted from several Anime series. The "Raidar X" mecha was one of 13 (IIRC) designs FASA was forced to 'give back' to the company that produced Robotech. (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

         Re: Jeremy Sproat —Brian Cooper
(...) FASA acquires and recycles designs from anime. This is the Macross original J.S. was emulating: (URL) think FASA also has a clone of this other mech, which is pretty lame since it was designed to accomodate a 50 foot giant Zentradi: (URL) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

         Re: Jeremy Sproat —Anthony Babington
well, thank you all for correcting me... battletech is about the only place from whence i know a great deal of mechs... it is pretty obvious how they stole some of their designs, although i'm afraid i haven't seen many anime with mecha that look (...)           Re: Jeremy Sproat —Mike Timm
(...) Well like one of the other posters said, FASA had to remove a number of mechs from their products after getting caught using them. Those mentioned will never be pictured again at the least, I believe that they can be used/refered to in novels (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Eric Sophie
You mean the Regess and the Invid , the series is called the Invid Invasion, I know the the first two as Macross and The Robotech Masters. I love the music to all!!! (...) (24 years ago, 21-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Chris Gordon
Invid Invasion was originally Mospeada (which also refers to the Cyclone motorbikes) Macross Saga was originally Macross The Robotech Masters was ... umm... hmm, I forget too :P The music for all WAS very cool ^_^ PS do try Patlabor if you can, the (...)        (...) (snip) Wasn't the third series Southern Cross? I may be wrong, after all it's been a while since I was obsessed with Robotech :) -jeremiah- (24 years ago, 23-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Peter Guenther
(...) The first series was originally Superdimensional Fortress Macross The second series was originally Superdimensional Fortress Southern Cross. It was supposed to be a much longer series in Japan but never caught on, so they butchered the series (...) (24 years ago, 23-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Jonathan Lill
(...) And don't forget Orguss which was not included in the American release of Robotech but (ithink) was related to the Macross series.(and had cool mecha) (24 years ago, 23-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

           Re: Jeremy Sproat —Peter Guenther
(...) There were indeed a number of Superdimensional Fortress series... There was also a contemporaneous anime series with a main character who got into, hmmm, shall we say romantic situations with the women from popular anime series of the time. (...)            Re: Jeremy Sproat —John Aronson

          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Chris Gordon
Yes, the series has more labors in it, tho its hard to find the eps anywhere... took me over a month to finally get the 7 original OAVs, 16 second OAVs, and 47 episodes of the TV series... Thank god for MIRC :P But there are many different types of (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

         Re: Jeremy Sproat —Joel Jacobsen
(...) A large number of FASA's original Battlemechs were "borrowed" from Macross/Robotech. The ones that come to mind are: Macross --> Battletech Excaliber --> Warhammer Raidar X --> Rifleman Veritech fighter --> Wasp (and the Phoenix Hawk as I (...)    Yes Making a larger Robot based on this design, It would be great, I see what you are saying about exploring the use of the ball and socket design, there's somthing great about a prototype right?         Re: Jeremy Sproat —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) (1) That series has a generally "curving" style which IMO looks great, almost an eastern European military design, though would be a challenge to capture in blocky Lego...          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Jot that down as another d'oh from me (and it's not even noon yet). I meant "greebles". :-, Greebles are all the tiny little pieces of stuff that model makers put on spaceships, etc. to give the illusion of detail from a distance. An example (...)          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Eric Sophie
Oh ok, ya , this is important, adding detail or grabbing your eye is somthing I study, each part of the design should allow the eye to transition from one area to the next still maintaining the overall impression, detail of course should add not (...)          Re: Jeremy Sproat —Bryce McGlone
(...) Ah I see. I call all the little detail pieces "premeditated seagull poop" :-D And I mean it in a good descriptive way.         Re: Jeremy Sproat —Eric Sophie
Thanks but what is "greeblies" ahh I don't understand? About the Joint connections, I use worm gears, turntables and Technic girders to achive the conections, if I make a small prototype I use black friction pegs. I hope you one day build a large (...)
