Hey Brendon,

It's a riot how you pick and skip and choose your verses.  I actually
picked up the Bible for myself and looked up your references.  It's cute how
you skipped over the passage in 1 Corinthians 11:13-16 where it says that we
should judge this practice for ourselves, and that and the end it said that
if anyone is contentious about it, we have no such practice.  You're proved
it in your contention.  Congratulations.

In addition, I noticed in Ephesians 5:25 (after the bit about submitting
to your husbands) that he told that husbands to lay down their lives for
their wives just as Jesus laid down his life for the church.  The point is
that rather than giving 50-50, the New Testament teaches a marital
relationship based on mutual surrendering your own will.  I wonder what kind
of relationship that would be if wives lived to serve their husbands, and
the husbands lived to give up their lives for their wives.  I somehow doubt,
by your easy chair picture, that you'll admonish the men as you did the women.

Yours is a great study in creative and selective censorship to
misappropriate scripture.  Would love to probe your history to know why you
have a Lego Battle Axe to grind against the Royal Book and it's Author.  I'm
looking forward to finding time when I can compare and contrast your other
forgetful stories to "the rest of the story."

There are legitimate humorous and difficult scripture that deserve
examination but you're simply dishonest and deceptive.  Great Lego work.
Clever sense of humor.  But integrity is sadly lacking.

Your disappointed friend,
Markus

p.s. Though you skip around the accounts of the gospels, I noticed that you
neatly neglected the passage where Jesus healed the man who's ear Peter cut
off, and ended your tale as if Jesus either encouraged the behavior or was
passive about it.  I haven't looked it up myself yet, but I believe Jesus
rebuked him saying, "He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword."  Would
love to hear your reasoning, though we both know the real answer.

I too have noticed Brendon's "cherry picking" of the scriptures for his site. Since I don't take his site as a reference source but more of a entertainment site (and I believe that is how he takes it also) it doesn't bother me. I hope that others (...) (...) Ok, this was my first problem with your post. Let's keep this kind of talk in off-topic where it belongs. :) Now on to my main points. (...) He presented an artistic interpretation that skipped around the text that it was based on. I think we (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Considering that the majority of Biblical citations made by religious zealouts engage in just as selective censorship, I think that The Reverend's approach merely provides some much needed balance. --Bill.
