It's an interesting point you have made with seeing the colour you want. I
sort basic bricks by colour and everything else by form. The reason that I
sort basic bricks by colour is because I don't look at them, so seeing the
colour doesn't work. I just dump my hand into the bin and feel for the
piece I want, and it works for me.
A lot of it has to do with what you build. I am into town, so I spend most
of my time creating buildings. These usually work on two or three colours
and consist mostly of bricks. So having a bucket full of blue bricks works
best for me since when you are building walls you can use multiple
combinations of brick length, but the colour matters.
I do sort out the specialised pieces, for the same reason others have
mentioned. finding a black one stud 45 degree sloped brick in a bucket full
of black is near to impossible.

| I have to say I am firmly on the sort by form side. It may be because I don't have as many pieces as many of you guys, but once mine are sorted into the kind of part they are, it is very easy for the eye to pick out the color I want. If all of mine (...) (25 years ago, 4-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)
