When I packed my Legos away a few years ago (for, what I thought would be
forever) I had them sorted by color. For some reason I just liked the way they
looked and I didn't think I'd ever use them again, because I didn't have time
to just leisure build and I had accidentally thrown all my directions out.
Then I came across Kevin Loch's instruction scans and decided to pull them out
to build all the models that I enjoyed most. I had such a horrific time trying
to find the right pieces (especially in the black container). Models that
should've taken me 20 minutes to put together right out of the box took three
and four hours, when I had to search for pieces. Right now I have everything
very organized in little drawers. I'm so anal about the organization that I
even have variations of the same sort of part in different drawers (i.e.
different sized wheels, different types of wings, etc.; they each get their
own drawer). I found that this works MUCH better. I've also found that it
speeds up the process of selecting the right piece so that I do, in fact, have
enough time to leisure build.
Anyway . . . it's neat to see that everyone has such variations on how they
store their pieces.
